4. Hi, I'm Violet. I'll be your friend. Oh wait you are a criminal. GUARDS!

"Nice name?" I said awkwardly. Come on don't blame me, the only other girl I've ever spoken to just happens to be my sister which is way different. I don't know how this works. She smiled which made me feel better. "Thanks. What's yours?"

"Alex" I said.

"Nice name?" she said imitating my voice surprisingly well and we both laughed.

"So do you believe in magic?" I know right. Smooth. Definitely the first question to ask a girl you have just met. But I was looking for answers and I decided it should be easier to swerve the conversation towards magic and other phenomenal occurrences. She shook her head.

"Are you crazy? Hell no." That pretty much ended my searching for answers campaign but she wasn't done with me.

Narrowing her eyes she asked "do you?"

Judging by her expression I decided to be on the safe side. "No way." My wrist where the tattoo was, suddenly burnt ferociously and I yelled out in pain. She stared at me in concern. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing" I said biting my lip as another wave of pain ricocheted through my arm. "O...K..." She said. "So if you don't believe in magic why did you ask?" I shrugged. "Just curious."

She wasn't happy with that answer, I could tell. But she let it drop while I mentally kicked myself.

"So how old are you?" I asked mainly to change the subject to stop her from asking more unwanted questions. She put her nose in the air and I felt a pang of dislike slide into my mind. "I don't tell my age to random strangers." She smirked at me. "Even if they're kinda cute." Please ignore the ridiculous grin on my face right now.

"Oh so that's why your t shirt says no age. Anyway I have to go and you were also probs heading somewhere before I knocked into you so you can go back too, and yeah, I should probably apologize for that. Sorry." I was about to stalk out when she stopped me.

"Fifteen." She said softly. "What?" I asked. She smirked. "That's my age. Fifteen."

"Oh cool" I said and smiled. "You?" She asked.

"Sixteen." She seemed like she didn't like that I was older than her but as soon as she opened her mouth to complain, I politely excused myself and hurriedly walked away. I know girls when they start complaining.

I was done with her and I walked back up the hill which I tumbled down giving a dirty look towards the skate board. As I passed the construction site again, I looked down at it again to see if the workers had reported for duty. Instead I saw Ash lying on the ground unconscious.

Wait what? Did I just say..........shoot. What the hell am I supposed to do? I saw Violet coming up the hill and I yelled, "Violet, my sister's fallen in here."

She looked concerned and called one of the guards standing near the gate who immediately ran to her without asking any questions, I have no idea why. She pointed a finger at me.

"Arrest him."

Moments later I found myself in a cell with my hands and feet tied behind my back together so all I could see was Ash unconscious lying facing me with her hands and feet tied similarly. I felt like strangling Violet when I felt my wrists and ankles start hurting, getting cut by the thin but strong rope. Suddenly the rope sliced a sharp cut on my wrist and I yelled. Ash stirred.

"I'm going to kill that ass." She mumbled. Assuming she meant me, (I don't know any other farm yard animals that have associated with her) I began to wish I was in a different cell. She blinked and saw me and would've strangled me if her hands weren't tied. Lucky me. Before she could give me a lecture I asked her the question I'd been waiting to ask since the time I found her half dead in a construction site.

"What are you doing here moron? It was bloody stupid of you to come here." I thought she would snap at me like I do when I get angry but she stayed pretty calm.

"Long story."

I shrugged. "Looks like we'll be here for some time."

Then she completely and utterly snapped after taking some time to register everything I said.

"Bloody stupid? Me coming here? I came to find your skinny little ass. I thought that old witch or someone might've caught you. Alex, I was scared." Her voice cracked and I looked away feeling slightly guilty.

"Ash I'm sorry" I said still avoiding Ash's gaze. "I wanted to find answers. I thought I was doing the right thing for once." I sighed. "Guess I was wrong."

She sighed and when I finally looked at her I realized that her eyes were slowly filling up with tears. She laughed a little at my expression and I attempted to return a smile which was more of a grimace.

"I can't really blame you. I was going to try it myself. Anyway my plans went up in smoke when I realized you were missing and then my new mission was to find you and strangle you if you were hurt." She gazed at me for a few seconds.

"Ash I'm fine." I said. "How did you fall into the construction site though?"

She rolled her eyes. "That's exactly what happened Alex. I fell in." I opened my mouth but she spoke up.

"I know what you mean idiot. Guess I wasn't looking where I was going."

I guess my expression consisted of slight triumph and self satisfaction because she scowled. "Happy memories.......OWW OWW STOP IT." I yelled. "ASH LET GO. IT"S BURNING." My tattoo was hurting as if someone was holding a metal iron rod that had been lying on fire.

Ash was staring at me in shock and fear. "I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING." She cried trying to shout over me. Tears were springing out of my eyes and Ash took one look at my face and screamed.

A guard came running down the corridor to our cell. He was extremely pale like he didn't get much sunlight. Maybe he lived in this underground prison. I didn't envy him for that but I was having worries of my own. "Stop screaming." He saw me writhing around the floor in pain and he grabbed a pair of keys that hung at the end of the belt strap of his pants and opened the door.

Ash was in the verge of bursting into tears. "Please help him." She said, her voice cracking slightly. I was beginning to feel a little loved when another burst of pain shot through my arm making me double over in pain. I was struggling so hard to get loose so that I could rub my arm and squeeze out the pain or something.

The guard seemed to realize this and he got a pen knife out of his pocket and swiftly cut off the rope tying my arms and my feet.

I grabbed my arm immediately and squeezed it tightly. Thankfully the pain began to slowly subside. The guard left our cell, locking it after himself and swiftly started walking away. I stopped myself from saying thank you and good bye. No time for that. I sat up looking at poor Ash still trussed up like a chicken but I couldn't help the glimmer that was in my eyes.

"I think the M on your arm stands for...." I braced myself. "Memories.....OWW....geez that hurts. When I say it my tattoo Murder starts burning up." When I said murder the pain on the tattoo left as if it had never even happened at all.

She glared at me from the ground possibly wishing I could untie her. I'm really bad at knots which was why she wasn't suggesting anything. "How do we know for sure?"

We both knew the answer.

"Murder." Ash said. The guard who left us earlier heard a piercing scream of pain. He swore loudly and ran towards the cells.
