34. We order people to evacuate and here we are not following our own orders.

Evacuating people wasn't as hard as it sounded. Yeah sure, you're probably thinking we had to wait until every citizen believed us and then collected their belongings and slowly crossed the borders of Twilight. It would've worked that way if we didn't have our secret weapon. Don't panic it's not Ash's foot.

Queen Violet was our secret weapon. She went from house to house, telling the emergency situation calmly but firmly in an extremely reasonable tone. And most of the people she gave the message to, ran to their friends and relations houses to deliver the news.

But that wasn't the only thing that made our job easier. Apparently the Twilight palace had been exploding or something, so all the citizens were quite happy to leave their belongings and run through the borders like a stampede but I'm not complaining.

When the last citizen had gone out of Twilight, we looked at each other and gulped. Suddenly this seemed way more real. It felt like this was actually happening.

"Ok.....we need to get sup-supplies." Violet said stammering slightly. I gestured to the empty houses. "Shall we.......?"

Ash managed to crack a tight smile. "I've always wanted to steal." I laughed despite the situation. "Ash's true character is revealed." We all laughed but the happy sound of laughter didn't last long because an explosion like a bomb going off came from the palace.

"We are running out of time." I said stating the obvious. But sometimes you need to state the obvious to begin action.

We ran into different houses and picked out the sharpest kitchen knives we could find. Ash probably went into a house which had kids because she came out with a plastic bow and arrows set and a unicorn pillow which she had to leave behind. She was content with the bow and arrows though.

"Score." She yelled grinning like we had all gone on a shopping expedition. Whatever. If this was going to be our last say of life we might as well have a good time before going down. Me and Violet shared a weary smile and it felt pretty good, but that feeling didn't last long. I don't think I have to waste my breath by having to explain why.

Armed and dangerous, we advanced the Twilight palace. How did it feel knowing that this might be our final steps? I didn't feel anything other than extreme tiredness. We had been on our feet for so long. How long had it been since I had, had a nap?

Before we got to the palace, I stole a packet of biscuits and a plastic bottle of water from the nearest house. We shared it all while making our way to the palace. I know right. What kind of immature warriors stuff their faces while marching into a battlefield? Oh well, better energized and ready than tired and starving right?

Thanks to Mavis we knew exactly how to enter the palace. Another explosion shook the floor.

Guess the unexpectedly smart action we did at that moment.

You guessed it.

Instead of running away from the explosion, we headed straight toward it.
