6. The torture got postponed but the reason was torturing.
Stuck inside a torturing chamber waiting for death wasn't exactly the best thing that could happen and Ash wanting to kick me and hurt me in every way possible didn't help.
"What were you thinking?" she yelled as soon as the guard left us in a small room that had a dirty mattress on the floor. Just like home. Except home didn't have some brown stains on the ground. Old blood.
"Ash, she did it." My voice cracked. "She killed them." I thought I had moved on apparently not. Ash sighed and took my hand.
"Look, I get it. Stop acting like I'm some random stranger. They were my parents too. But is it really a good idea to let your emotions cloud your actual decision making? You could've just told her the truth."
I aimed for a slight smirk. "And make the most dangerous blah, blah, blah hag get into trouble no way."
Ash almost punched me in the face. She restrained doing so with a lot of difficulty.
"Alex, a couple of days ago you wanted to sue her for eating your oh so important burger. What the bloody hell is wrong with you?"
I didn't like the words she was using. Even if I sweared sometimes at really bad situations, Ash was more of the problem solver peace maker kind of person. But I kept my mouth shut. Her points were valid and I didn't have a proper response for them so I didn't even try.
"I just don't want Violet to get what she wants."
Ash sighed. She could never stay mad at me for long which was one of the reasons that I'm thankful to god for creating an extremely patient companion to walk alongside me.
Suddenly the torturing chamber door opened and the queen walked in with her ridiculous grin still plastered across her face.
"Good news, the torture is cancelled for now." She said brightly as if she was happy about it. Fat hope. Even I wasn't happy about this new arrangement. She wasn't trying to be nice. I knew that for certain. There had to be a reason and knowing her it would be nothing good.
"Why?"
She laughed making me want to punch her or somehow hurt her.
"We found your friend. Turns out she has appendicitis. We are going to operate her."
I stared at her blankly. "I'm sorry, what? Could you repeat.........practically everything again."
She scowled and complied with a rather angry tone, but as weird as it sounds I must say I preferred the scowl to the smile.
"What's appendicitis?" Ash asked politely and I was so happy she asked because I had no idea about what it was either. Apparently the relief showed on my face because she began to brutally explain what it meant with all her focus on me.
When Ash first asked that question Violet looked like she was about to scream. But then she changed her mind and smiled sweetly at me. I felt queasy all over and what she told us afterwards didn't help me feel any better.
"Appendicitis is when a little bag in your stomach is filled with so much junk that – she took out a small piece of paper, flipped it over to see if it was important. Apparently it wasn't because she included it into her explanation – it gets filled up. And when the little bag gets filled up to its maximum and can't contain anything else it begins to tear." As she said this she began to tear the paper leaving me to contemplate it as it slowly drifted onto the floor.
I involuntarily shuddered and the queen saw me. She laughed.
"Since you seem to like the sound of the operation I will permit you to watch."
