37. My life goes up in flames. Like literally.
I huddled up in a corner with my head on my knees. "Chill dude." I said out loud. "It's Ok. Someone will save you." But in my heart I knew no one would come. Tears trickled down my face and I hit a wall, like literally.
Nothing happened to the wall but my fist stung like crazy.
"Stupid." I yelled. "Stupid, stupid, stupid."
Meanwhile............
"Where's Alex?" Ash screamed. "What did you do to my brother?"
Mavis laughed cruelly. "We sent him far away and you will never see him again."
Violet ran at her and punched her in the face. Mavis yelled but her reaction was fast. She elbowed Violet down to her knees, grabbed the knife from her back pocket and pressed it against her throat.
"Mavis." Ru Twilight said sharply. "That's no way to treat honored guests." Violet spat at his feet and Mavis started twisting her hands cruelly smiling at the pain she was causing. Violet yelled in pain. Mavis let go and rubbed her hands together.
"What's the matter my queen? Is my father killing your boyfriend?"
"Ha" Ru Twilight shouted. "The time has come to say good bye to Slogan Alex."
"Alex Slogan." Ash automatically corrected as Violet said, "what do you mean?"
"Let me explain" said Mavis pompously but got pushed aside by Ru Twilight. "No, allow me. Your brother went through a pipe which goes underground to the fossil fuel chambers. He is currently stranded in a shaft."
"Is he safe?" Ash asked.
"Yes." Said Mavis.
Violet and Ash heaved sighs of relief.
"But not for long." Ru Twilight said. "Sorry girls, but life isn't fair. Alex' shaft is right in the middle of the petroleum oil."
"Known in Greek as ygropoiimeno aerio petrolaiou." Mavis added.
Ru Twilight rolled his eyes. "As I was saying. He's in a shaft which is in the middle of a pool of liquid petroleum. I press the button and his shaft fills with oil."
"What's the point?" asked Ash and Violet together.
"The point is....." Mavis paused for effect. "When he tries to swim through the oil, to survive, we will send a small spark and............"
She didn't have to continue. There was nothing to say.
"But you aren't cruel enough to press the button right? Ash asked childishly her eyes filling with tears. Mavis and her father laughed mockingly. "Us cruel?" Mavis asked innocently. Ash's heart sank like a stone.
"Say good bye, oh wait you can't." Ru Twilight laughed and he lifted a specific finger to press the button.
"No." Screamed Ash and her fingers glowed hot pink and some of the pink stuff hit Ru Twilight. He collapsed.
"Father." Mavis pulled him to his feet. "Who are you calling father?" Ru asked with a drunkard grin.
"Dad, it's me Mavis."
"Dear god, what kind of mother in the right mind would call her child that? I'm awfully sorry my dear. What terrible luck has befallen you."
"Thanks dad." Said Mavis quite hurt and Ash gave an involuntary giggle unable to stop herself.
"What about Alex?" Violet screamed.
What about me? Good question. High time someone thought about me. But I am so glad I missed that fiasco. My shaft was filling up with oil. Some trapdoor that blended with the wall had miraculously opened and I found myself swimming in oil. Gross.
Why would Ru Twilight want to drown me with oil? That would be such a waste. Oh god. It finally dawned to me. They were going to light the oil on fire.
"Help." I screamed until my throat was raw swallowing oil in the process. I went under and came up gasping for breath.
I knew that the oil on my face was mingling with tears.

PertualanganI didn't ask for any of this. all of this happened anyway. we don't have control over our futures. all we can do is go with the flow with our fingers crossed, hoping for the best. that's what I spend my entire life doing. Hoping.
