When you got home, you went straight to bed. You were incredibly worn out from being on your feet and dancing. You know that the routine you and the girls did wasn't even that hard compared to some of the other dances that girl groups do, but you never claimed to be a dancer or an idol. Those girls work their ass off for sure.
The next morning, you head downstairs and find your mother on the phone with someone. It piques your interest, because she usually isn't the type to be smiling and giggling... that's more your thing than anything, really. You don't want to pry just yet, though, so you sit on the couch and start to look through your phone.
You're pleasantly surprised that your dance was posted onto Pinku's Coonstagram account and has got quite a bit of attention. You don't really remember anyone recording, but it's fine, you suppose. The more publicity the better, right? You make sure to like the video, now going to your text messages. It seems like the guys have been blowing your phone up since last night.
Kyle: I didn't know you could dance, (Y/n)! You did great!
Kenny: You looked hot last night. Kind of sad I couldn't see you dance a bit more up close :(
Butters: Gee, (Y/n)! Thanks for the great show yesterday! I had a lot of fun! :)
Jimmy: I would have danced with you but I don't think anyone could STAND to see me without my braces ;D
Token: You were awesome out there! I'm excited to see more!
You laugh a bit at their texts. The messages from Kyle, Butters, and Token were very sweet and made your heart flutter. Jimmy's, on the other hand, made you snicker. Kenny's made you blush— you knew that he was the flirty type, but it caught you off guard to see that the flirting was directed at you. You assume that he does this with everyone.
"Oh, shut up," your mother laughs with the person on the phone. "Yes, I'll be there. I won't be late! Yeah, yeah. Bye." She hangs up and looks over her shoulder at you, smiling a little bit when she sees you.
You lift your hand up as a greeting, smiling right back at her. "Hey, you're pretty popular today, huh?" You ask with a small chuckle.
"I guess you could say that..." She walks to your guys' coffee maker and turns it on. It starts to heat up, though it's a little loud. "I met the coach of the football team at the school you'll be going to... It was just a chance meeting, but we hit it off like it was nothing."
You watch as she puts one of the coffee pods in the compartment and then shuts the lid. It starts to drain into the cup that she put under it. "Oh? I didn't know that you were up to talking to the townspeople so quickly."
"Yeah, well... I kind of didn't expect it either. But he's talking me out to lunch so you'll be home alone. You won't burn the house down right?" She adds her favorite creamer to her coffee before she stirs it. She brings it to her lips and takes a long sip.
You roll her eyes at her question. "No, mom. I've been home alone before and I've never once burned the house down."
"Good."
"... Can I have some friends over?"
She pauses and looks at you once more, leaning her back against the counter. "Those boys that you've made friends with?" She asks, and you nod as an affirmative. "... Fine, but if I find out that you did anything with any of them—"
"Mom, I barely know them!" You gasp, redness flooding your face at the mere mention of you doing something seedy with your friends.
"It didn't stop your sister," she mumbles bitterly, causing you to frown and look down at your lap. You really don't like it when your mom compares you two— it makes you feel awful and it hurts you to your very core. You're not your sister. You've always been your own person.
