"Hey, (Y/n)," A familiar voice calls out to you. You look over your shoulder, causing Heidi and Red to stop as well. You smile at the sight of Trent, who is wearing a leather coat over a plain white shirt and ripped jeans. He walks right up to you, and it's only then that you realize that the two of you have quite the height difference. You can't even predict how tall he is!
"Hey, Trent. What's up?" You ask, smiling up at him and holding your bag on your shoulder. You don't realize that your two friends have stepped a bit behind you, hiding from his gaze.
"I was havin' trouble with my math. Can you help me out? I know yer smart as they come." He hands you a paper, presumably his homework, and you peek at some of the problems. You blink after a moment, finding that the problems aren't too hard. Maybe education is sort of nonexistent in juvie, or he's just not a studious kind of guy!
"I wouldn't call myself a genius or anything, but I can help you!" You confirm, nodding. You've never tutored anyone before, but you can certainly try. You look at Red and Heidi, who look pale in the face, and tilt your head. "You guys can go ahead and go to lunch. I'll be in the library for today."
"Y-Yeah, okay..." They scurry off, whispering to each other as they do so. You wonder why they seem so scared for you. They're not the ones that felt Trent's wrath so many years ago!
"Okay, so this one is a translation... so it says, "Determine the translation that maps point B(2,1) to point B'(-4,5). What do you think the answer is?" You ask, pointing out the first problem as you sit next to him in the library. He glances back up at you, giving you an expression that tells you that he genuinely doesn't know. "Okay... So what you do is that you find the difference of two and negative four. So when you do that, you get negative six. Then, you find the difference of one and five, which is four. So your answer is (-6,4)."
"Ohh... I think that makes sense!" He nods, causing you to smile. You hand him his pencil so he can do the next one on his own. "Determine the translation that maps point C(7,5) to point C'(5,5)... Find the difference of seven and five, so that is... negative two? And the difference of five and five is... nothing... so it's... (-2,0)?" He looks at you for confirmation.
"Yes! Good job!" You compliment him, reaching over and drawing a star next to his answer. "See, you're a quick learner!"
Trent smiles, looking proud of himself for being able to do it correctly. "I wouldn't say nothin' like that," he says modestly, continuing to do the rest of the worksheet. You watch his ministrations, making sure he's doing each problem correctly.
"Ugh, there you are. I've been looking for your ass all day!" A familiar voice exclaims, causing the librarian to loudly shush. You look over your shoulder and blink at the sight of Cartman. "Why aren't you at lunch? You said you would sit with us today!"
"I don't recall saying that," you quip. "Besides, Trent needed my help with something and what kind of friend would I be if I denied him?"
"Trent?!" He pales considerably, just in time for Trent to peek behind you and see one of the people he despises most. He narrows his eyes and scowls, obvious and as intimidating as ever.
"Oh, well if it ain't one of the guys that got me stuck in the pen twice!" He growls, scooting his chair out and standing to his full height. He towers over Cartman, who isn't even a short guy... but he sure looks like it in comparison. "D'ya got a problem with me studying with one of the only people that has shown me kindness, hm? Or are you jealous?"
Your chubby friend takes a step back, using his hands in a gesture that says 'I'm backing off!' "Trent... I'm not here to start a fight," he begins, causing the taller fellow to bark out a fake laugh. "I-I was just looking for (Y/n) is all."
