So the six (Gothel, the baker and his wife, Ella, Jack, and Little Red) journeyed into the forest to find Rapunzel.
From being ordered to do numerous tasks in the woods, Ella felt at ease walking through the ominous setting. But for some reason, she also felt something odd deep inside.
Jack was a little wary at first, but being surrounded by kind and understanding people, he in fact, became quite adventurous. Yet something kept nagging him the farther he walked onward.
For the majority of the walk, it was Little Red making the most noise. She chatted on and on, taking a bite of her pastries in between each sentence. But even the noisiest can't talk forever. She too felt something, deep inside. "Oh dear, how uneasy I feel."
Then, as if their instinct told them to, the three suddenly blurted out simultaneously,
Ella: "The ball."
Jack: "The beanstalk."
Little Red: "The wolf."
They then caught themselves, surprised. They had no idea what they were talking about. But Gothel knew.
"Oh, now I see. Your quests are to fulfill your own destinies. Jack, you must go after Milky White." A smile spread across Jack's face. "Great!" he exclaimed, then dashed off.
"Little Red, you must go to your Granny's." Little Red wasn't surprised, but annoyed. "Well isn't that where I was headed to in the first place?!" She skipped off.
"And Ella, I know this is hard, but go back to your father's house. There's to be three grand balls during the next three days that I think you should attend. You'll find a way to go." So much in such little time! Ella thought as she scurried back home.
"And you," Gothel turned to the confused couple. "I am going to tell you how to undo the curse so you can have a child."
Her face grew very serious. "You must go find four things:
the cow as white as cream,
the cloth as red as roses,
the strand as radiant as gold,
and the shoe as pure as glass."
Dear Reader, remember this.
"Bring these objects to me by three in the morning in three days time. Then, and only then will you receive a child. But I warn you, these things are very hard to find. Now you shall be off!"
And with that, Gothel disappeared into thin air, leaving nothing else for the baker and his wife to do, but begin the search.
