I stumbled back a few steps, covering my mouth. No...that can't be true. It couldn't be. He, attacked me..? But why? I began to cry out. So that's why he left me, he didn't want to end up trying to kill me for some reason.

"That's all I know. He probably would've told me more if it hadn't been for whatever it was that he felt." Changing the subject, Jake continued. "By the way, before Alex dragged you off, you were going to tell me something, about Alex. And don't say you can't tell me because I told you." Looking away, I shook my head. I couldn't do this right now. All I could think about is seeing Alex one more time; once more to talk this all through. Caught by surprise, my arm was grabbed and pulled away from my mouth. "Tell me already!" The raise in his voice made me quiver.

Forgive me, Alex... "Alex, he's a...demon." I pulled my arm away and held on my wrist with my other hand. "He was originally human, but he ended up becoming a demon. That's all-" Jake began to laugh.

"A demon? Really? I didn't peg you the type to tell jokes like that." He patted me on the head. "That was a pretty good one."

"Jake, I'm not-"

"You sure are funny." Pulling his hand away he clapped his hands together. "That's right! I came here to get my wallet." How did that even remind him of his wallet? Jake began to look through the drawers in my desk. No luck. "I think I had it in the kitchen last." He raced out of the room, I just stood there, staring blankly into space. Well, I guess I didn't have to worry about telling him. So now I'm just left with Alex.

It still hurts. Even though I know the reason why, I still can't stand it. My chest is in pain, my heart feels ripped to shreds. Even though I was just told, I still can't believe it's true. What could Juliana have been warning him about? Could there have been a reason? Or...could he really have just turned on me..?

I have to find him.

Running down the stairs, I headed straight for the door. Jake came up from behind and called out. "Hey, where are you going?"

"I have to find Alex." He ran up and grabbed me by the hand. "What are you doing?"

"You're going after him, even after all that?"

"Of course I am!"

"But why? There's a chance that his dream may actually become a reality, are you-"

Jerking my arm away, I snapped back without any hesitation. "Because I love him!" I don't care about that...I once did the same to him. Even though I was being controlled, it was still me who attacked him. "Even if it ends up happening, it would be my own fault. After all, I am the one charging in even after knowing." His eyes widened as I ran out the door.

Running around for hours, there had still been no signs of Alex. He wasn't even at his house. Where could he have gone? I found myself wandering around a small lake, with trees all around. Most people consider it to be a park of some sort, but I never saw it that way. Looking back, I've only been here maybe twice, mostly considering how far of a walk it is. I started walking around the edge of the lake, staring out into the water. It was so beautiful. The reflection of the sunset really made it glow. There was just one thing missing..

Turning my head a bit, I noticed someone standing at the edge straight ahead. They stared out into the water's surface, watching the small waves hit the shore. My eyes flew open and my heart raced. Could that be...is it really Alex? Taking a couple steps, I began to run. After all this time, I finally...

"What are you doing here?" A cold tone sounded in my ears as I was pulled back behind a tree. This was Alex's voice. "I thought I told you to stay away."

"Did you honestly believe I wouldn't come after you just because you told me not too?"

Narrowing his eyes, he quickly glanced over to the side and back down at me. What was he looking at? I began turning my head and he took a hold of my cheeks holding my in place. "Perhaps we should take this elsewhere." Taking a hold of both my wrists, the world around me suddenly turned dark, almost like a cave.

"Alex, where-"

"Don't talk." He slammed his hand against my mouth. "You don't speak unless I permit it." This reminds me of that first time in the janitors closet, yet somehow...it doesn't feel the same at all. It feels even less unsettling than it did before. "Why did you come after me?" He dropped his hand, and stared into my eyes.

I gulped. "I needed to see you.."

"That isn't an excuse. I told you, Serine, don't-"

"Jake told me everything." I blurted out. His expression changed. Rather than looking surprised, he looked more confused...

"Jake who?" My eyes widened. This isn't right...how could he have already forgotten Jake? He wasn't the type to be so forgetful. Unless... Taking a few steps back, he narrowed his eyes a bit. "What are you doing?"

This isn't... "You're not Alex..."
