Chapter 07

29 May 1999, Grimmauld Place

Tomorrow was the day when Max Burke would be in Knockturn Alley looking for Theo Nott, and Theo nor Harry had any leads on where to go from here. Lisa and Bekah played in the garden of Grimmauld place while Alex had dozed off on the sofa. Katherine looked at her son, he did look a lot like Theo, she ran her finger through his hair moving it from his face.

Four weeks had gone by since she found out she had children, and in the four weeks she had come to care a lot about the children, and she knew Theo had too, he had a secret soft spot for Bekah. Katherine could tell that she was clearly close to her dad, with how she interacted with Theo.

"What are we going to do, Merlin knows what he wants with me," Theo yelled, making Alex stir in his sleep,

"Mum," he mumbled

"Shh, go back to sleep," Katherine said softly, once he closed his eyes again, Katherine walked to the kitchen

"Can you keep it down, you nearly woke Alex up,"

"Sorry," Theo said, Harry and Katherine don't think they've ever heard the word 'sorry' leave Theodore Nott's mouth before.

"Have you figured out a plan yet?" Katherine asked

"Actually we have," Harry said,

"It's a stupid idea," Theo barked

"Well let's hear it," Katherine asked

"Right, you know my invisibility cloak, that my dad gave me," Harry asked, Katherine nodded, "well, what I'm suggested, is Theo goes to Knockturn Alley and you go with him, under the cloak," Katherine laughed

"You got to be joking right," Katherine said,

"Kat, you're the only one small enough to not cause too much trouble if you bumped into anyone," Harry explained

"This better work Harry,"

30 May 1999, Diagon Alley

"Right do you know what you're doing?" Theo asked, Katherine nodded, "Explain it to me then," he ordered

"Once I'm under the cloak, stay close to you, if I tap once stop, if I tap you twice go, and if I tap three times, we need to get out of here," Katherine explained

"Good girl, she listens," Theo said Katherine rolled her eyes at him, throwing the cloak over her she was completely invisible now.

They entered Knockturn Alley, Theo didn't ever think he'd be down in these alleyways again, but they didn't have another choice if they wanted to find Burke, Katherine tapped his arm, Theo stopped, she tugged his arm to the left, he turned down next left alley.

"That's Burke," Katherine whispered in his ear. Poking his side to signal which way to look.

They followed him, he walked to a store, looking for Fluxweed, Powdered Bicorn Horn, Leeches, Lacewing Flies, Knotgrass and Boomslang Skin. Katherine's brain was working out what kind of potion would require them specific ingredients. Then it hit her. They were ingredients used in making a Polyjuice Potion.

Theo continued to follow Burke, as Katherine had signalled him to stop, he could still feel her beside him, even if it was only faintly. Two older wizards bumped directly between Theo and Katherine, separating them, Theo carried on following Burke unaware that Katherine was lost in the crowd.

Katherine hurried to follow him, but he was gone, she rushed trying to find Theo all while dodging other wizards so she didn't hit them. Theo could be in danger and she wasn't there to warn him, she began to panic when she looked down the alleyways and couldn't see him.

Then Katherine spotted what looked like Theo's hair, he had similar hair to Alex. Why did she take note of that? She thought hurrying after him, when she turned around the corner Max had Theo held up against the wall. Theo was choking, Katherine took her wand out pulling the cloak off her.

"Stupify!" she cast stunning Burke, he managed to dodge it dropping Theo to the floor and running, Katherine knelt down to him.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, go get him," he coughed, Katherine ran after Burke, she appeared back in Diagon Alley, they had done a full circle back where they started. She cursed herself, mad that he had gotten away. Theo stumbled out of Knockturn Alley, Katherine hurried over to him.

"I'm fine, we need to leave before someone sees us," Theo blurted, they apparated out of Diagon Alley.

At 3 Greenfield Street,

Katherine and Theo appeared back at Katherine's flat, they both were annoyed that their plan didn't work. Katherine slumped down on her sofa, holding her head in her hands. Theo went to her sink to get a drink of water, to soothe his throat.

"It's my fault," Katherine mumbled

"What?"

"I got separated from you," she said,

"I know," he told her

"And you still- your bleeding," she said, noticing blood dripping down his face.

"Oh, it's fine, I'll be alright," he said, Katherine got up walking over to him, she turned his head to have a look, she reached for a wet cloth.

"Katherine, I don't need you-

"Shut up will you this is my job," Katherine said, patting down the cut on his head.

Theo watched her, Katherine looked so focused when she was working, he noticed it was she tended to Pansy. As Katherine finished wiping his cut, he held her hand, causing her to look up at him.

"Thank you, for helping me, he could've killed me," Theo said,

"It was nothing, you'd done the same for me," Katherine said, rinsing the cloth covered in blood down her sink.

"Katherine, I mean it, thank you," she looked at him,

He looked sincere, first he apologises then he's thanking her. Theo's eyes lingered down her face settling on her lips, Katherine felt a lump in her throat, Theo leaned their lips almost touching.

"Daddy!" Bekah said running through the fireplace,

"Come here," he said lifting her up, Alex and Lisa followed behind her with Harry not far behind them.

"Thank you Harry, we'll fill you in tomorrow," Katherine said, handing him his cloak back he left through the fireplace. Katherine turned to her children.

"Right, time bed, you three it's late,"

"No mummy,"

"Listen your mother," Theo said, they nodded going to their bedroom. Leaving Katherine and Theo together alone, Theo shuffled his feet,

"I'll sleep on the couch, night Katherine,"
