Essence

As I silently stalked the vast expanse of the mansion, I couldn't help but marvel at its beauty. Each room shocked me with its size and it was beyond my imagination, leaving me to wonder just how deep the family's pockets were.

Approaching a mysterious black door at the end of a dimly lit hallway, I couldn't shake the curiosity creeping up my spine. What secrets lay beyond this threshold? With caution in my steps, I contemplated the consequences of disturbing whatever might lie within. I knew briefly what this family did but how bad could it get. What exactly did the mafia do?

Deciding discretion was the best option to keeping me living here with sanity non the less alive, I began retreating, hoping to avoid any unwanted encounters. However, fate had other plans, as the door opened behind me, revealing a perplexed, shirtless Killian. Leaning against the door frame "Essence." He says.

"Killian," I say overly excited. Don't look down Essence. With my eyes betraying me I ogle openly at Killian's body. God, take my eyes out now. "What are- what are you doing here," I shake my head slightly, slowly reaching his eyes.

"In my room?" He asks looking down the empty hallway and leaning off the ledge. I clear my throat and cross my arms keeping a distant stance. "The real question is why are you on this side of the house," my room was on the left wing of the second floor while Killian's was on the right. There was no reason for me to be on this side yet here I was exploring every inch out of curiosity.

"Just you know, walking around."

"Outside of my room?" Was he making this about himself? Suddenly his eyes become slightly hooded, with his hands stuffed inside his pyjama pants he steps towards me tauntingly. "Did you want to come inside?" Inside?

"I- what?" I shake my head genuinely confused. Killian chuckled at my stoic expression and fixed his posture so that he was no longer leaning his head down. "You're ridiculous" I roll my eyes stepping back and putting some much needed space in between us.

"Are you ok?" He asks suddenly his eyes tracing over my features.

I nodded my head "yeah" I cleared my throat "I was just looking  around" I said trying to avoid his gaze and body overall that stained my brain.

"Then why aren't you looking at me" he came closer and I stepped back once again.

"Cause I can" I said back to him

"Right" he nodded his head slowly unconvinced. Still heated from the space between us I slide against the wall until I'm a few inches away from him before I attempt to take off.

"I'll see you." I call out.

"Get ready" he said walking back into the room.

"What why?" I asked him, he always did this, leave me with more questions than I came in with. "Killian," I say refusing to be ignored.

"There's a party tonight and we both know you cannot stay here alone," I laugh preparing to go off at him otherwise. "You will be my date." He says leaving no room for discussion.

"Excuse me." I walk back to his door with heat building towards my ears.

"You will be my date." He says again.

"I heard you the first time." I roll my eyes. "You didn't ask me to be your date so therefore..."

"It's not a real date Essence. You'll just be showed off as my date so nobody thinks twice about talking to you," I start to laugh, did he really think his presence was enough to keep me secluded? He was anything but scary and from what I've been seeing he was mainly all talk.
