Lexie left a few minutes ago, and I've been watching Derek pace the room for the past two. He doesn't believe her. "Derek, she said she saw her,"

"Oh yeah and I'm supposed to believe some 15 year old who's been off the rails," he stopped and glared at me, as if me dragging Lexie into this was the worst thing in the world.

I didn't like how he was treating her like a child, yes even though she was one, she had a power like nothing else, and she was able to use it. Whether it was real or not, I don't have a clue, but I believe her no matter what. "Okay leave her alone, she just got out of that nuthouse,"

"Exactly," he pointed out and my mouth fell wide open, I can't believe he thinks she's crazy. I mean I did for like a second because it does seem slightly mind-blowing, but she doesn't deserve to be treated like this.

"Derek!"

"What I'm just supposed to believe that this thing that she is can sense death?" we were both yelling now, stood opposite each other and disagreeing with what just went down. Why can't, for once in his life, trust that I know what I'm doing.

"Yes!" I screamed back as his brow furrowed, the others were watching this quarrel with wide eyes, that was until my brother came in between us and broke it apart.

"Okay, okay let's calm down. Whether Erica is alive or not, we still don't know where they are being kept. So we need to try something else," he suggested as I backed up against the wall and folded my arms, glancing over at Derek who was rubbing his hand across his mouth worriedly.

I get why he's so upset. These betas were his responsibility and know, well know they could both be dead, we had no idea. "Fine, what do you have in mind?" I asked as Scott glanced over at Deaton.

"An ice bath?" I questioned, looking down at the metal tub that had taken the place of the metal exam table. Isaac had squatted down so it was in his direct eyeline. He rested his hands under his chin and squinted at the water and the ice that settled in it.

"Obviously, it's not going to be particularly...Comfortable. But if we can slow your heart rate down enough, you'll slip into a trance-like state." Deaton announced, standing by Isaac's side and looking down at his idea quite proudly. "Just like how Lexie was when she was reading your memories,"

"Like being hypnotized." Isaac raised an eyebrow and Deaton nodded.

"Exactly. You'll be half transformed. It'll let us access your subconscious mind."

Scott cleared his throat and looked down at Isaac's head before back up at his boss."How slow does his heart rate need to be?"

"Very slow."

"Okay, well, how slow is very slow?" I asked, getting slightly worried because the more and more we tried to unlock Isaac's memories, the more and more dangerous it got.

"Nearly dead." Deaton dead-panned and at the word 'dead', my eyebrows raised and I swallowed the lump in my throat. Looking down at Isaac warily and wondering whether this was a bad idea.

Isaac placed his hand into the water and after a second of contact, immediately pulled it out and shook it off, sucking in air through his gritted teeth and looking across at me. Yeah, this clearly was not a good idea if he could barely hold his hand under for less than a second. "It's safe, though, right?"

"Do you want me to answer honestly?"

Isaac sighed and shook his head, turning his attention back to the water that bobbed up and down, "No. No, not really." We all stood looking down at the ice bath when the sound of elastic slapping against skin filled the silence.
