"He wants you to come too." Scott mentioned as he stood in Sabrina's doorway. She looked up from where she was laying on her bed and gave him a smirk. Apparently, Mr Yukimura wanted to invite the two McCalls over for dinner. To thank them for saving Kira's life. But this was a chance for Scott to get closer to the girl, and Sabrina wasn't about to ruin that.
"Scott, I'm not going." she said adamantly before flipping through the magazine she had been reading. Scott shifted uncomfortably, she knew he wanted her there, of course he was too shy to go by himself.
"Why not?"
"Because you like this girl. And you need a chance to get to know her." she watched as a smile grew on his face, just thinking about Kira sent him slightly crazy. Sabrina knew her brother deserved this, he deserved to fall in love again, have that feeling of something new. "So I don't know what you're doing in my bedroom right now when you should be getting your ass over there. Don't be late. It pisses people off."
Just as Scott turned away, he immediately spun back around, causing a sigh to escape his sister's mouth as she stared at him questioningly. "I have one question."
"Shoot."
"What about Allison?" she cocked her head to the side sadly, of course she knew her brother couldn't get over his first love, does anyone?
"Well, do you still love her?"
"Yeah, I mean of course I do." Scott rubbed at the base of his neck and let out a sigh of defeat. "But I know that she's moving on."
"Scott listen to me. You and Allison, you guys were perfect together." Sabrina smiled, thinking back to the beginning of sophomore year and how the two were literally inseparable, how Scott's anchor was Allison. How everything he did came back to her. Everything he did was for her.
Then she remembered their breakup and their Romeo and Juliet story. How she was a huntress and he was a werewolf and how it was a forbidden love, one that was tragic and would eventually lead to an inevitable end. She glanced up at her brother and sighed. "But sometimes relationships have an expiration date. Whether you like it or not. Sometimes you don't have forever."
"But the two of you worked with the time you had." her eyes settled on her brother, everything about him, the kind of person he was, was that way because of her. "You are the person you are today because of her, and I'm sure she's the person she is because of you. But you grow up, and sometimes even though that person has shaped you into a better version of yourself, a mature version of yourself, they aren't what you need anymore."
She began thinking of her and Derek, how her relationship with him fell apart because she was still young, still changing and still growing. "In fact they might even be holding you back. You'll always love Allison Scott, always. And she'll always love you. But right now, you guys aren't meant to be together."
Sabrina began remembering what she had thought when she said goodbye to Derek. How she would try find her way back to him in the future. "So find the person you're meant to be with now. And who knows, maybe in five years time the both of you will come to your senses and find your way back to each other."
Scott stared dumbfoundedly at his sister, when did she get this wise? "Since when did you get good at giving relationship advice?"
"Since my own relationship went to shit." they watched each other with sympathy. Scott never really knew the true story behind the ending of her and Derek's relationship because she never really told him. They didn't share the details. Once Sabrina spotted the pity in his eyes, she immediately stopped him from feeling bad, he had a dinner to get to. "Like I said, Derek and I may not be able to be together anytime soon, but who knows what the future holds."
