When I came downstairs another person was awake. I liked my last team better, they were always asleep.
"I'm sorry about earlier."
"How'd you know I was behind you?"
I came up next to him.
"Sam told me you were up about this time yesterday." He took a second, "She told me what you told her too."
I shrugged as he looked up at me.
"Did she do it?"
He shook his head, "I've always hated her boyfriend, but she's too nice to break it off."
"What's his name anyway?"
"Carter Newton."
All the color drained from my face. Anger filled my veins just hearing the name.
"You know him?"
I ignored Cody, and ran into Sam's room. I didn't care who I woke up, but she needed to end it. She rolled over, and rubbed her eyes.
"Is everything ok Alora?"
I grabbed her phone off her dresser and handed it to her, "Break up with him now."
"Alora, I know I need too but-"
"Has it started yet?"
He took the phone and sat up, "Has what started?"
"Has he touched you?!"
She looked away from me, "He didn't mean to. He was just mad... how did you know?"
I sat on her bed, "I've had a lot of bad ex's. He did mean to Sam, and you know it. End things now, or I will for you."
"We barely know each other, you can't do that!"
"It will get worse Sam!"
"No it won't, he cares about me!"
I took a breath and sighed, "Sam, listen you need to end things. He's capable of so much worse than you ever need to know."
"Like what?" She challenged me.
I pulled up my shirt to reveal a little scar on my side. "He got really mad at me one day. He happened to have a knife in his hand, and before he realized what he was doing it flew out of his hand and into my side. He almost killed me, but later made me think it was my fault. He told me I'm the one that made him do it."
I lowered my shirt and didn't look at her, "Please, don't let him hurt you."
She nodded her head, and started typing up a text. Personally I would've called him, but to each their own. I left her alone, and saw Cody leaning on the railing at the top of the stairs.
"You used to date Carter?"
I nodded and walked passed him. He followed me into the gym, and I let out a sigh.
"Why'd you help her?"
I turned to face him, "I don't have to like people to help them."
I got onto a treadmill, and started jogging.
"Should you really be doing that? With your arm and all?"
"Give me like a week, and I'll be back to the punching bag."
"That's not realistic." He leaned against the wall in front of me.
"I don't care."
"You should. Whether you like it or not, you're a part of this team and that means we're going to look out for you."
