Six Times Over

I made plain scrambled eggs for everyone, along with a piece of toast. I ate mine while they woke up, and got dressed. Cody was the first one down.

"What happened to I'm not doing this again?"

I rolled my eyes, as I placed my plate in the sink. "This is different idiot. We're gonna train today."

"You're still hurt." He grabbed a plate and went to sit at the dining table.

"Stop." I ran up to him, and grabbed his arm, "I need to vacuum."

He rolled his eyes, and pulled out of my grip. Only he didn't listen to me, and continued to walk into the dining room. Just as I thought, he stepped on a small piece of glass and jumped back a little.

"Shit."

I bit back a smile, and watched as Cody sat on a chair, trying to get the glass out.

"I'll get you tweezers in a second."

Loud giggles came from upstairs, and I silently gagged. Cody's eyes widened, and I decided it was prime time to vacuum. I cleaned up the small pieces of glass, as slowly as I could. Cody was laughing as I did this, knowing full well why. When I was turned the vacuum off a very loud moan was heard from one of the two.

"Oh hell no."

Cody's laughter picked up as I walked down to the training room. I didn't make a snarky remark when I heard him follow behind me.

"Guess they're getting a workout in before they start the day."

I sat down on one of the benches, "There's a reason I hate inter-team relationships."

"Then why'd you help get them together?"

"Just because I despise them, doesn't mean I'm going to deny them happiness."

"Were you denied happiness?"

He still had too many questions.

"Aren't we all?"

He sighed, "I hate people being cryptic."

"I hate people asking questions." There was no venom in my voice, but I was getting annoyed.

"Well if you would just be honest with us, I wouldn't have so many questions."

Why was he mad? I honestly thought he was being kind after last night, and yesterday.

"You don't need to know everything about my life Cody."

He stood up, "No, but I would like to know you! I would like to know the person I go into the field with! Right now you seem pretty shady, and I don't see a reason to protect you!"

"THEN DON'T!" I ran a hand over my face, and hushed my voice,"Don't try to protect me."

"Why don't you care about your life?!"

"Because I should be dead six times over, but for some reason I'm still here!"

His face fell, and his shoulders slumped.

"What's that mean?"

I got in his face, "It means you should stay the hell away from me."

He pushed both my shoulders back, and I got a dangerous look in my eye.

"You really wanna go there?"

"Why not? You said you wanted to train today." Now he was extra angry.

It was all over his face, his words, in his eyes. I don't know how, but I pissed him off. He swept his left leg up to kick me, but I caught it, and forced him onto his back.

"I don't feel like doing this right now Cody."

He used his arms to push off the floor, and kick his legs forward so he was standing again. "Why not? Scared you're gonna lose?"

While I started to respond he punched me gut, making me double over. I quickly regained my stance, and gave him an equally pissed glare.

"Come on Cody."

I dogged a few of his punches, and landed a few of my own. After a few minutes he got my right arm pinned around me back, and he kicked my knees making me fall to them.

"You're an ass."

"I won." He put a little extra pressure on my wound.

I let out a hiss of pain, "I let you idiot."

"Sure you did."

With a roll of my eyes I kicked my foot back, and made him lose his grip on me. Enough so, that I was able to stand and turn. I quickly swept both his legs, effectively making him fall on his back. I moved to stardle, him and put his arms above his head.

"Don't get cocky, it's not a good look on you." I put my other hand on his jaw, forcing him to look at me.

"What's going on in here?" I craned my head to see Sam and Elijah standing in the doorway.

We were both breathing heavily, and I realized how not great this looked. I got off him, and walked over to the door.

"Training."

I pushed passed them, and started walking away but stopped for a moment. "Next time y'all decide to fuck, please be quiet. Like get a gag or something, not all of us want to hear that."

With that I continued back into the kitchen. I grabbed my phone off the counter, and saw I had a missed call from Chase. I called him back, and walked outside.

He picked up on the second ring, "Alora."

"What's up Chase?"

"Why'd you really leave me? After everything.... just why?" There was a certain desperation in his voice.

I took a deep breath, and placed myself at the edge of the pool allowing my feet to sit under the water.

"I just couldn't do it Chase. Everytime I looked at you I saw her. It wasn't fair of me, but I don't think we could've survived."

There was a pause on his end, "I think you're right."

I let out a small laugh, "I'm always right." A small smile peaked on my lips, "Why'd you tell those two guards to kill me?"

He chuckled, "I wanted to see what you could do. I wasn't going to actually let them kill you.... why'd you stab me?"

"I was hurt you let the one guy shoot me."

We both let out small laughs, but they died out quickly. Something was wrong, and I could tell.

"What's going on Chase?"

He sighed, "Nothing, just be careful. Whoever's money I have... they aren't playing around Alora. They're serious, and I don't want you to get hurt."

"I won't."

"Good."

There was another moment of silence before he spoke.

"When you get done with your mission, you think I could take you to dinner?"

"I thought we just agreed it wouldn't work."

He chuckled again, "I know, but it doesn't stop me from loving you. One dinner?"

I sighed but smiled, "One dinner."

"When we go on this dinner, will you say it to me one more time? I know it's hard for you, but I want to hear you tell me you love me one last time."

I thought about it, "Of course Chase. I'll text you when everything's done."

"Ok, bye Alora."

"Bye Chase."

I hung up first, and layed on my back.
