I'm Not Broken

Instead of starting downstairs with everyone else, I went straight to my room. My brother knows me, and that means he probably knows where I'd set up my room. I started searching high, and low for the dang thing but couldn't find it. In reality I knew I would never be able to find the one in my room. He would've hidden it the best out of all of them. At one point I gave up, and flopped on my bed. Last time I played this game with my brother I failed. It felt wrong to not get my punishment, and I knew someone wanted to take anger out on me. Why not ask them?

I changed into shorts, and a sports bra and then went downstairs with my phone. Everyone was scattered, so I just called out Cody's name.

"Yeah?!" He came out of the office.

I walked over to him and swallowed hard, "I have something.... odd to ask of you."

"What's up?"

"Have you ever wanted to... torture someone... more specifically me?

His mouth fell open, and he just stared at me.

"No?" I sudden amount of embarrassment flushed through me.

"I-" He took a breath, "Why?"

I started picking at my nails, "Because."

I looked up to his expression softened. "You had a seriously fucked up childhood."

"It wasn't fucked up Cody. I mean it wasn't normal, but-"

"No," He interrupted me, "It was fucked up. Your dad tortured you for not being able to find something the size of a fucking pea. Even worse, you thought you had to be tortured, you thought you deserved it, because you couldn't find the damn thing!"

"Cody-"

"NO! You think no one can read you, but can, can see how broken you are."

I bit my lip, "I'm not broken Cody."

He took a few large strides to me, so our body's were practically flush. "You just asked me to torture you, because you feel the need to prove yourself. Because you haven't failed in a long time, and now you're worried what we think about you, and it would be the same with any other team. I don't know what your dad make you think, but you don't need to prove yourself Alora. We can all see you're a damn good agent."

My voice was hushed, "You've only known me for like three days."

"One of the first things you did around us, was take down two armed guards. It probably would've taken both Sam, and I to get out the way you did."

After that we were just staring at each other. Involentarly my eyes flicked down to his lips, and back to his eyes. We were close, too close yet neither of us moved.

"Have you found anything Code's?" Elijah's voice snapped us out of out trance.

He came up to the door right as I stepped away from Cody. Elijah looked between us and raised an eye to Cody.

"What's goin on?"

I turned to him with a stocic face, "Nothing."

"It kinda looked like you two-"

"Is Sam a good fuck?" I cut him off, not wanting him to finish.

His eye widened, and took a step back. "I uh- what?"

I shrugged with a sly smirk, "What? It was just a question."

When he continued to stare I walked passed him, and into the living room. Sam was sprawled out on the couch. I sat on an armchair near her, and sighed.
