The day went by slow. I was dreading tonight, and Cody and I didn't know how to react with one another. Our normal stance is to be rude, but now it's odd. We shared a weird mom- a weird car ride, and now we can't just be rude. We know too much about each other's past, in an odd not really knowing anything way. When the party came around I got change, and drove us there. We got out of the car, and I went straight in to find her. I scanned the room for a moment before I saw her. The mixed beauty I got to call my friend. She had her hair straightened, and she was wearing a silver sequin covered dress. I walked over to her with a bright smile. She saw me coming, and got the same look.

"It's good to see you Tennessee."

She let out an airy laugh, "You too...."

She waited for me to give her a name.

"Alora."

She nodded a little, and looked passed me. I turned to see the rest of my team talking to people.

"They yours?"

I nodded, "More like I'm theirs, but yeah."

I turned back to her. She looked me over before clearing her throat.

"One of them's staring you down."

"Average height, dark brown hair, blue eyes?"

She took a moment assessing him, and then nodded.

"That would be Cody."

"Now he's staring me down." She looked back at me, "Finally getting back out there?"

I shook my head, "I told him a lot the other night. I don't know what came over me, but I just kinda let him in. I didn't tell him detail, details, but enough that he knows me."

"And the other two?" She sipped her drink.

"They're nice." I shrugged, "I got shot on my first fucking day, and this is the suit I was wearing. Since it had a nice hole, and I didn't want to get something new I drove to get a little sewing kit. Cody came with, and we like went back and forth with stuff from our passed."

I looked her in the eye, my expression gone serious, "He said he knew the first director. He was friends with his three kids for a while. Then his dad left him, and his mom and he never saw us again."

She copied my expression. "When?"

"Same time my dad killed himself."

She tilted her head to the side with a sigh. "Jesus Ha- Alora. You don't remember?"

"Remember what?" My brows were knit together.

"You're dad didn't kill himself babe."

I shook my head, "I already had this conversation with them. I don't remember filling out the form, but I remember what happened that night."

She saw the anger on my features, so she didn't fight me anymore. I don't understand why everyone seems to think it happened different. I held my arm out, and she gladly took it.

"You get to meet my team."

She looked at me with shock, "Reall?"

I rolled my eyes with a smile, "Really.... plus if I don't, they'll come over."

By now they were all together, and surveying the crowd. I brought her over with a smile.

"Everyone, this is Tennessee. Tennessee, this is everyone."

They all smiled, and said hello.

"Alora's told me a lot about you guys?"

I chuckled a little, "I didn't realize I had."
