"I'm sorry."
I bit my lip, "Ten did this?"
He shrugged, "We kinda did it together."
I nodded my head a little, and refused to meet his eye.
"Uh, Tennessee told me what to order I hope that's ok."
"Yeah... it's fine."
A tension sat in the air. It wasn't awkward, but it was full of emotions. Neither of us knew what to say, so we just sat silently until the waiter brought us our food. While we ate I glanced up at him a few times. It reminded me of our first proper date...
"I can't believe I'm going out with him!" I squealed, and Hunter rolled his eyes.
"You got an outfit?"
I nodded, and showed him the silver dress I had picked out. He smiled at me.
"You're going to look great."
"Thank you." I slipped into the bathroom, and came out when I was ready.
His smile grew, "Wow Harley."
He drove me to a small italian restaurant that looked empty.
"Dad bought it out for you two."
I blushed, and he led me inside.
"If he hurts you, I'll kill him."
I giggled and, left me alone. I found Cody, and sat in front of him. His cheeks were just as red as mine.
"Y-you look nice."
My blush only grew, "Thanks. You look nice too."
"I uh-I ordered for you. My dad said it's the polite thing to do."
I scoffed a little, "Though I appreciate the gesture, never again order for me. Your dads nice and all, but I like to order."
He laughed a little, "Mom told him you wouldn't like it, but he said I should take his advice."
I shook my head with a smile, "I thought your mom hated me?"
He shrugged, "She doesn't hate you. She just... doesn't love you."
I giggled a little, and the waiter brought us out our food.
"You look beautiful."
I shook my head, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Thank you."
I sipped my water, and took another bite of my food. Ten had stupidly ordered me stake, one of my least favorite foods. Cody noticed my picking, and chuckled lightly.
"You wanna go get burgers? I saw a place a few minutes away on the ride here."
I set my for down with a large grin, "Sure."
After a solid ten minutes of arguing Cody paid, and we got in his car. After we got our food we looked up directions for a park, and went there to eat.
I stole one of his fries with a smile.
"Hey! I told you to get a bigger order of fries!"
I laughed and popped it in my mouth, "You should've convinced me, this is obviously all your fault."
He fake scoffed, and took a gulp of his rootbeer. We finished eating in happy silence, and soon clouds started to take over the already dark sky.
"I didn't know it was supposed to rain."
Cody chuckled, "That's cause you don't check the weather."
I rolled my eyes, and water droplets started to pelt the car window. In seconds it was pouring down rain, and I had a large grin. I connected my phone to the car, and started blasting music. Cody gave me a confused look, which I replied to by jumping out of the car. Being around Cody made me feel like a kid, it made me feel happier than I've been in a long time. I started dancing around in the rain, and after a few minutes Cody joined.
"You're an idiot!" He shouted over the roar of thunder.
"Why would you say that?!" I asked while he spune me.
He pulled me close, "We're drenched, and still have to drive home."
I shook my head a little, "You're the one that decided to join me."
Without thinking we had started slow dancing in the rain. We danced like this for a few seconds, and he spoke up again.
"I'm sorry I left, and I'm sorry I didn't tell you what was going on."
I looked up at him, "I'm sorry you thought I was dead."
He chuckled a little, "Do you forgive me?"
I took a genuine second to think about it, before responding.
"Yes."
We were inches apart, and just staring at each other. We both had small smiles, and I could see a faint blush on Cody's cheeks. Slowly he pulled me in for a kiss. It was soft, and loving. He pulled back with a much larger smile, and rested his forehead on mine.
"I'm so fucking sorry."
"I already said it's ok."
He sighed, "But it's not. I just left you."
"And I refused to talk to you."
His hand gripped my wait lightly, "You had every right."
I wrapped my arms around his neck, and we stayed like this for a few minutes. The sky lit up with a strike of lightning, and the thunder was loud. We decided it as probably be best to go back, and so we did. Cody held my hand in the car, and I nodded off. I woke up when Cody was carrying me inside the house.
"How'd it go?" Ten asked him.
"Good."
She probably looked down at me, and let him continued into my room. He softly placed me down, and slipped my dress on. I couldn't pretend to be asleep any longer, because my cheeks turned a furious shade of red. Cody chuckled, and I finally opened my eyes. He handed me a towel and I dried off a little. He then gave me my pajamas, and sat next to me on my bed once I had changed.
"Thank you." I whispered to him.
His eyes darted to mine, "I should be thanking you Harley."
He placed a soft kiss on my forehead, and left my room. A small content sigh escaped my lips. Cody had been my everything, and still was. I always blamed him for the next years of my life, but it was never his fault. It was mine, I was upset and used other people.
Maybe Cody could make me happy again.
