Natalie went back inside and to her room. She kept thinking of ways to tell her parents about the "engagement". She finally decided to go downstairs and tell them. Her parents were already in the living room and her father was still reading his newspaper. Natalie sat down and fidgeted with her ring. "Mother, father I have something to tell you." Natalie said. Her father finally put down his newspaper. "I uh-" "Yes?" Natalie's mother said. "I'm getting married." she said. "Oh my god! To whom?" her mother exclaimed. "Umm, Jack." she replied. "Oh my goodness!! I can't believe this!" she exclaimed. "I am so happy for you two!" her father said and stood up to hug her.
"I have to call Rose!" Natalie's mother said. "Wait! I don't think Jack told her yet." Natalie said. "Oh, well yes he probably isn't home yet." she replied and sat back down. "I am just so thrilled! I knew you two would hit it off!" Natalie's mother exclaimed. "You were right." Natalie said and forced out a chuckle. "You know, I've always hoped one of my children would marry a Kennedy. They are just such a nice family!" Natalie's father said. Natalie had to hold back an eye roll.
Natalie's mother oohed and aahed for the rest of the evening and the next day Natalie called her brother and asked to meet him for lunch. "So, I have something to tell you." she said in the middle of eating her salad. "Shoot." he replied. "I'm getting married." she said. He almost choked on his steak when he heard what she'd just said. "Excuse me?" he said still shocked. "But it's not for love, it's sort of an arrangement." she said. "Wait, who is this man you're marrying?" he chimed in. "Who do you think." Natalie said. "The Senator?" he asked. "Yes, who else." she replied.
"Well what is this arrangement?" he asked. "We're getting married because we are a perfect match, in the eyes of our families and society." she replied. "Oh, so basically an arranged marriage." he said. "Yes, but no one knows about this except for you." she said. "Well, I'm honored." he said and chuckled. "Either way, congrats sis!" he said. " Thank you." she replied.
Natalie got back home and went to her room. Her parents were out at some ridiculous function, which meant she was going to spend the evening with her younger brothers. She heard the doorbell ring so she went downstairs to answer it.
