Jack soon drove up to a rather deserted area, and stopped the car. "Jack what are you doing?" Natalie asked. "Come on!" he replied and got out of the car. They walked a little until they reached a hill. "Oh my-" Natalie said. She was amazed at what she was looking at. The hill they were on had an outlook at all of the city. You could see the monument, the Capitol, and even a bit of the White House. The sun had just set and the city lights were bright as ever. "It's gorgeous isn't it." Jack said as they sat down on the grass. "It sure is." Natalie replied. "Yeah, but not as gorgeous as you are." Jack whispered into her ear. She felt his warm breath on her neck, and before she knew it he was kissing her again. She caressed his hair and Jack chuckled between the kiss. He clearly liked when she played with his hair and she was the only one, whom he allowed to do so.
After he stopped Natalie asked, "So how often do you come here?" "Well, as often as I can." he replied,"This place really allows me to think. It's quiet, pretty, and secret." Natalie replied, "This is the type of place where you can dream about your future." "It really is." Jack said.
They gazed at the stars and at each other. Natalie had been thinking about this lately, and finally asked Jack, "If you don't mind me asking... why do you want to be president one day?" Jack looked at her and thought for a few seconds then finally said, "Because I want a legacy. I want to be remembered when I die. And I also want to help change the world. Plus, it's my fathers dream. Joe was supposed to carry on his political ambitions, but then he got himself killed. And now, he wants me to take his place. But I'm not sure if I can do it, Natalie. I mean, I'm the sickly one and I'm just not sure I can do it." Natalie looked at him with a glimmer in her eyes and said, "Jack, of course you can do it. You can do anything you want to. I'm sorry for bringing it up, I just wanted to know why you have these ambitions, but now I do, and I think what you're doing is great." Before she could say another word, Jack nuzzled her nose and kissed her.
"Jack, how are you doing with..." Natalie started. "I'm doing ok..." Jack said knowing she was asking about the somewhat recent death of his sister. "You know, sometimes I just miss her so much and of course we Kennedy's 'don't cry'. We push aside our feelings and don't talk about it." he started. "You know, you can talk to me. You don't need to hide your feelings." she replied. "Thank you kid." he said.
They talked for hours. Jack told her how his mother disowned his sister, before she passed away and how she didn't even go to her funeral. He also told her about how his mother once left him to go on vacation when he was sick, after he begged her not to go, and all she told him was "Kennedy's don't cry." and shut the door behind her. He told her how he never felt any affection growing up, because his parents were caught up in there own problems, and he only ever spent time with his siblings. Natalie just listened to him, and all she wanted to do was hug him, and never let go. Even though Natalie had always seen Jack as a powerful, frisky, skirt-chaser, that night she realized he was just a broken boy who sought love and attention from anyone willing to give it to him.
