"I should be going... I have an interview to get to." Inga said as she reapplied her red lipstick, "Natalie, it was good seeing you, and Jack, I'm sure I'll see you soon."
"Well, that was interesting." Natalie said. "Yes, uh I'm sorry Inga can be a bit-" "Rude, condescending, blunt?" Natalie interrupted him. Jack rubbed his neck. "So, you dated her?" Natalie asked. "Briefly, but that's over." he replied. "Are you sure? Because I thought she was going to lunge at me." Natalie said. Jack chuckled, "I actually met her today to tell her about the wedding before she saw it in the newspapers." "Oh, well I'm bet she was thrilled!" Natalie replied sarcastically. "Something like that..." he replied.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you my parents invited you to dinner tomorrow night." Jack said. "I'll be there!" Natalie replied. "But it's not just dinner," Jack said "My father asked the Life Magazine crew to come by and they want to put our engagement on the front cover." "What?!" Natalie exclaimed "You mean the magazine they sell all over the country?!". "Yes." Jack replied nervously. "Oh my gosh. Are you serious?!" Natalie said. "I'm sorry, it wasn't my idea. My father obviously needs the whole country to know about our engagement." Jack said and rolled his eyes. "Yes, well I'm not surprised." she replied. "I'll pick you up at three." Jack said.
As she walked out of his office, Natalie felt her knees weaken at the thought of being on the front cover of a national magazine, but she knew this was the baggage of "marrying" a politician, especially a Kennedy.
