"Jack we're going to be late!!" Natalie exclaimed. "Don't worry darling I'm almost ready." he said as he came into the room. "Here let me help you." Natalie said as she took his tie. "Thanks kid." he replied.
The dinner party was going to be at Charley Bartlett's house. He was a confidant of Jacks and their families were also close.
"Well I think we're ready to get going," Jack started. "By the way, did I mention how ravishing you look tonight?" Natalie replied, "Thank you. You look very handsome yourself." Natalie was wearing a black, satin fit and flare dress as well as pearls.
"Jack it's good to see you! And you must be Natalie..." Charley said when they walked in. "Natalie Lavoie. Pleasure to meet you!" she said and shook his hand. "Charley Bartlett and the pleasure is all mine." he replied. "I cannot believe Jack Kennedy is finally getting hitched." he said. "Neither can I." Jack replied and chuckled. "I also can't believe you found someone to put up with you!" Charley joked. "Ahh Charley!" Jack replied and smacked him on the back. They talked for a few more moments and then they made the rounds.
Jack was probably the most popular in the Senate and people were excited to meet his fiancé. By the end of the night Natalies cheeks were sore from all the smiling. "Hi Ethel!" Natalie said as she stepped into the hallway. "Natalie! It's good to see you." she replied and hugged her. "So, how do you like Washington?" she asked. "Oh it's very pretty!" Natalie replied. "Yes... And how do you feel after your first party with Jack?" "Well my cheeks hurt a little, and my hand feels numb from all the handshakes but other than that..." she said and laughed. "Well get used to a lot more of that!" Ethel said and clinked her champagne glass against Natalies.
After talking with Ethel, she went back to Jack. "Are you ready to go?" he asked. "It's a little early, don't you think?" Natalie replied. "Yes, but I wanted to show you something." he replied and grabbed her hand. They said goodbye to Bobby, Ethel, and Charley and made their way out.
"Jack, where are we going?" Natalie asked when he started the car. "You'll see." he replied and winked.
