While this year's celebration dinner wasn't the most elaborate, this was something Lisa hadn't experienced in a very long time, so it made her feel nostalgic.
The table only held a huge bowl of stewed chicken and some delicious braised fish on the side. With one glance Lisa could tell that these were her father's creations.
"Dad, did you cook today?" Lisa knew that while her father was good at it, he doesn't like cooking.
"We have Jungkook to thank for this, Dad specially went out and bought some fresh fish for him." Hobi waggled his eyebrows at his sister.
"Cough!" Father spluttered as he drank.
Jungkook felt touched. He picked up his glass, poured some alcohol and stood up: "Thank you uncle, let me pour you a cup."
"Don't you get drunk easily?" Father Manoban said.
"I'll drink less."
At this, Father Manoban nodded and touched his cup with Jungkook's.
At this time, Mother Manoban placed the last pot of soup onto the table, and the family sat together and happily started eating their New Year's Eve dinner.
During the meal, Hobi took the opportunity to fill Jungkook's cup with alcohol and Jungkook accepted it one after the other. Although the food helped, after a few cups, the Jungkook with such tiny alcohol tolerance became dazed.
Father was obviously in a celebratory mood, and after a few more cups, became talkative.
"Jungkook, you be good to my daughter." Father pointed towards Jungkook.
"Uncle, you can be rest assured, I will properly be together with Lisa." Jungkook shook his head in an attempt to clear his dulled mind.
"Our family's Lali, not to boast, is the best in the village." Father started to count his fingers, "clever, filial and beautiful."
"But not gentle!" Hobi, who had also drunk a good amount of alcohol, butted in.
"You shut up!" Father glared at his son.
"No, Lisa is a very gentle girl." Jungkook placed a hand on his chest and laughed, "Every time I see her, my heart warms."
"I protected her for twenty-two years, and now she's going to be in your family." Father said, somewhat unhappy.
"Uncle, I'll be protecting her in the future." Jungkook patted his chest in assurance.
"Who's protecting who, when my sister was a kid she was famous for being such a manly girl," Hobi raised his arms and imitated a boxer, "She ruled during her primary and middle school days, ah."
"So strong?" Jungkook mumbled, his head tilted to the side.
"Yeah, so you be careful, you dare hurt my sister, you'll have to fight me, then go for a round with her." Hobi's words started to slur, becoming an incoherent mess.
"Alright!" Jungkook had no idea what was said and could only laugh in response.
"Lali, she's always had a one-track mind. She would fiercely protect the people she cared about. Normally such a strong girl isn't easy to hurt, " Father knew his daughter best, "But if its someone she cares about that hits her, she'll just take the punches silently."
"So...Jungkook, please take care of her when I'm not around." Father looked at Jungkook, his eyes sober and lucid.
"Uncle..."
"This uncle is always worrying that she'll be bullied."
"Uncle, you can be rest assured...in the future...from now on, she'll have me." Jungkook valiantly tried to straighten in his seat, but in the end, he could only slump onto the table.
