Chapter 23

Caron watched as Harry left the table and made her way across the restaurant to the rest room. Seeing as this as a perfect opportunity she excused herself and followed. The restaurant was busy and dimly lit, Jason didn't notice Caron, as soon as Harry left the table he was on his phone, the bodyguards were sitting discreetly in a far corner where they watched from distance. Keeping an eye on Jason and Harry.

Once in the fashionable large rest room, Harry checked herself in the mirror, making sure she looked ok and no mascara was marked down her face, that was always embarrassing.

"You do know you are nothing more than a short distraction for him, don't you?"

Harry knew the voice before she turned round, her heart stopped for a second with anxiety. "Am I?" Harry was never good at confrontations and never seem to think of anything witty to say at the actual time.

Caron moved towards the mirrors where she stood in front of one and preened herself like a peacock. "You heard about the accident on the set... yes of course you have, Jason had terrible guilt about that and in some way, you are just a way to make him feel better."

Harry turned she could feel her cheeks burning red, "Excuse me?"

"You're just a poor thing that Jason feels he needs to rescue, to save, since he couldn't save that poor guy on set."

"That's a ridiculous thing to say... I don't need saving, there's no correlation between me and a stunt that went wrong." Harry replied with confidence, but she couldn't help but feel that there might be some sort of sense in what Caron was saying, even though she was loathed to admit it.

"He'll get bored you know you couldn't possibly keep him happy or know what he needs."

"Well, he seemed perfectly happy this morning and last night!" Harry retorted, take that bitch! Harry was annoyed Caron didn't seem to bat an eyelid; she could have at least had the decency to look a little wounded.

"Poor little orphan girl, been whisked away by a superstar..."

"How did you know I was an orphan?" Harry asked, how could she possibly know?

"You didn't really think that I would let you just walk into his life did you without knowing nothing about you?"

Then it dawned on Harry, she was the one responsible in some way for that guy that broke in her house, there had to be reason he was riffling through her stuff, "it was you!"

Caron stopped mid combing her fingers through her hair but didn't look at Harry either. "It was you that sent that guy round wasn't it? It had to be you ... that's why he was going through my stuff!"

"Me?... Me? Why would I do such a thing, you're pathetic!"

Harry had obviously hit a nerve, "Stay out of my business and stay away from me!" Harry made a point of nudging Caron as she walked out, although Caron was a good foot taller than her, but it was satisfying to see her wobble on her heals.

Once outside the rest room, Harry stood for a moment and took a deep steadying breath, her stomach was in knots, confrontation was not her strong point. Harry's appetite had waned if anything she felt a little sick. To think that Caron had obviously hired someone to break into her house and look through her stuff, what a liberty! Who the fuck did she think she was? Harry's first thought was to rush over to Jason, tell him everything and demand they leave, but what would that solve? It would be like she needed him to save her, to help her, and he'd already done enough of that! It was about time to she stood on her own two feet. If Caron was right, and Jason really did just feel the need to recompense for the death of his stuntman their relationship was going to be short lived.
