Chapter 11

Jason wasn't quite sure why he woke up. That evening Harry had gone to bed in her room and Jason into his it wasn't quite what he had wanted, but he respected Harry and respected that she was in no fit state for anything other sleeping and healing. Jason checked the time on his phone it was 3 in the morning, flicking his phone off he closed his eyes and tried to go back to sleep. But as soon as he closed his eyes, he heard it again, there was definitely a sound from downstairs, it was quiet and muffled but something definitely was making a noise that didn't sound like the normal house noises. Getting out of bed he pulled on some sweatpants, maybe Harry had got out of bed and was wondering round downstairs? Grabbing his phone and a torch that he'd found earlier in his bedside table he quietly found his way downstairs. Jason's heart was beating what sounded really loud to him, he stood on the top stair and it creaked loudly echoing throughout. "Shit," Jason whispered, if there was an intruder, he or she would have heard that. He stood perfectly still for a few seconds listening to the darkness, he strained as hard as he could, but all seemed quiet, too quiet.

Jason made his way down the stairs, he flipped the light switch on in the lounge, to find nothing was out of place. It was freezing and Jason wished he had grabbed a jumper or something too. Jason made his way to the kitchen it was probably a fox or something rummaging round outside, but he had to be sure. There is was again, a muffled noise from outside. Jason put the kitchen light on and made his way to the back door, he checked it, it was still locked. Not content, Jason opened the back door and put on the torch, he shone the beam of light around, it was surprisingly bight. Again, nothing seemed to be out of place, and there were no signs of life, animal or human. Returning inside, Jason locked the door and made his way back up the stairs to bed, although he doubted he would get any sleep now.

7 o'clock came round, and much to Jason's surprise he had nodded off again, the dark winter morning gave nothing of the time away.

Jason heard movement in the kitchen this time he was sure, leaping from the bed he ran down the stairs, only to find Harry was in there and it looked like there was a full English breakfast about to be cooked and served up.

"I heard a noise," Jason stood leaning against the open kitchen door, wearing nothing but his sweatpants.

"You'll catch cold... go put some clothes on," Harry blushed as she found herself staring at him like some teenage girl.

Jason found it sweet, and charming, still even he had to admit it was a bit chilly. "You heard any noises last night?" He asked acting nonchalant.

Harry turned and shook her head, "no... noise like what?"

"Not sure, like someone was moving about down here or outside, I couldn't find anything."

"Probably a ghost?" Harry shrugged her shoulders, "You want poached or fried eggs?"

"Poached please, ghosts? Don't tell you believe in that stuff?" Jason threw his head back and laughed. Thinking she was joking, but by the look on her face, she wasn't. "Seriously you believe in ghosts?"

"Why not? I've seen some things in my time that I can't explain, I don't see why they wouldn't exist?" Harry fetched the eggs from the kitchen and boiled the kettle.

"I suppose you believe in little green men too?" Jason didn't believe in such rubbish, he believed in, if you can see it and touch it then it's real otherwise it's tricks of the mind or the light.

"Didn't I tell you I was abducted by aliens once?" Harry turned to face him; her face deadly serious.

Jason looked at her, "really?" He couldn't tell if she was being serious or not.
