Chapter 25

Harry didn't even bother to say goodbye to Harrison, instead she did the mature thing slammed the car door and rushed into the house. Harry felt frustrated and unsettled by her conversation with Harrison and couldn't wait to see Jason, who was already in the kitchen. Without letting him speak or draw breath she ran towards to him and leapt into his arms.

To say he was pleased to see her wasn't strong enough, all day he had been on the movie set and Harry was constantly on his mind. Although he knew what he was about to say to her was not going to go down well. Jason was literally about to drop Harry right in at the deep end of a social event, it was about time the world saw and knew that he was in love and dating, and the best way to do that was to attend a party. The Rock had been on the phone to him that day announcing that he had organised a last-minute charity Christmas party, at first Jason had said no, but it didn't take much persuasion for him to change his mind. Ever since they had worked together on the Fast and Furious franchise they had formed a great bond, despite other cast members throwing their toys out the prams, for various reasons, Jason and The Rock had got on well.

Finally, Jason put Harry down but still kept her in his arms, "I have a great surprise," he started with, knowing that she wasn't going to like this "we've been invited to a party, a charity Christmas Ball."

"Oh... Ok," sudden panic and fear twisted in Harry's stomach "sounds great." Her tone didn't match the words.

"It will be, you're going to meet The Rock to mention one, it's about time you were introduced to my friends." Jason was determined to stay upbeat, "trust me this will be good. You'll love it."

"Mmmmm if you say so, I have nothing to wear to a ball, I'll look like a freak!"

"I've sorted it, you have a dress upstairs, with shoes before you ask."

"Don't you think this is a bit soon, I mean, it'll be awkward, I won't know what to say, this is so out my comfort zone." Harry tried to leave Jason's arms, but he wouldn't let her go all day he'd been waiting see her, to hold her, even smell her perfume. "I'll make a complete fool of myself I can see it now, I'll probably trip up or down some steps, spill a drink on some famous celebrity or worse, I'll open my mouth and start blabbering away."

Jason laughed, "you won't and it doesn't matter if you do, these guys are human too, they just get paid more than most."

"I really don't know, this sounds like a really bad, bad idea." Stopping her from talking anymore Jason kissed her fully on the lips and for several moments neither of them could think of anything else than each other.

The dress that Jason had ordered was nothing short of stunning, it was long, sleek and black with a slit in the side that went further up her leg than she would ordinarily feel comfortable with. It had sparkles on the straps that were just enough to be noticeable but not tacky looking. Harry was full of nerves getting ready trying to apply makeup with shaking hands was difficult task especially when applying mascara. Harry straightened her hair within an inch of it's life, no kinks tonight thank you very much! The last charity event Harry went to was a bingo night a pub that her friends dragged her along too, food that evening were hardened sandwiches, a few crisps and some pork pies, somehow Harry thought there would be none of that where they were going.

Christmas day was a week away and so far this had to be one of the strangest, bizarre run ups to Christmas she had ever had. It was almost like living through her own personal pantomime.

Jason had been ready for a good half hour and was waiting downstairs, he looked amazing! Harry found him pacing the hall as she cautiously walked down the stairs, wouldn't do to fall and break her neck before she'd even made it out, and high heel shoes were not her best friends. Jason wore a dark grey suit and a white shirt, no tie just opened at the top. Jason looked up and wolf whistled as Harry made it to the bottom step. Not one to take compliments well normally, on this occasion Harry had to admit to herself that she felt pretty damned good, her 'Bridget Jones' pants were working a treat and managed to suck everything in, she was glad she had bought them. They might not be sexy lingerie but needs must!
