Chapter 21

"Harry! Harry!" Jason screamed from the doorway, he knew there was a shooter still somewhere on the premises outside, but he didn't care as he raced towards her laying lifeless on the floor, if she was dead, he had no idea what he would do. If the shooter was still there Jason was now a prime target, but he didn't care. Falling to his knees he knelt beside Harry and rolled her on to his lap, his hands shaking as he smoothed her hair back from her face. Harry opened her eyes, "are you hurt?" Jason rasped out as he cupped her face in his hands.

Harry couldn't speak, all the air had seemingly been sucked out of her, she just shook her head. There were continued shouts from the gardens, and echoes of radios being used. Jason scooped her up from the ground and placed her on the bed, Jason took a hard long look at her making sure there was no signs of blood or injury, "Stay there!" Jason ordered as he left the bedroom closing the door behind him.

Harry took several long deep breaths, she closed her eyes and focused on trying to stop her hands from shaking, none of this was happening, this was just a really bad nightmare and any minute she would wake up and ... Harry opened her eyes, nope definitely not dreaming. What on earth had just happened? Who was trying to kill me and why? She'd come all this way, thousands of miles to escape what was happening at home, for it only to follow her here. Harry placed her hand on her forehead as she tried to clear her mind and think logically, it couldn't still be Kev, surely not? He was deranged that much was obvious from when he had kidnapped her, and sure he was out on bail but to follow her all this way to LA was ridiculous. There's stalking and there's serious stalking across miles and miles, no it couldn't be him. Besides how would he know where she was? In fact how did anyone know where she was and get passed the security and the electric gate? Not discounting there were cameras everywhere, none of this made any sense. Harry felt a hysterical giggle well up inside her, God! Anyone would think she was some sort of femme fatal and that was just bloody ludicrous!

Could it be Mark? He sure wasn't happy that they had broken up and he did like using her as his personal punching bag, but to come all this way and kill her just because she finally got the courage to dump him that too was bonkers!

Or maybe it could be to do with Caron, I mean maybe she could have hired someone to take her out, get rid of the competition, she was pretty cut up over Jason and they do say there is nothing like a woman scorned, but to hire a hitman, that too just sounded way too stupid.

One thing was for sure, someone was definitely trying to kill her, but who, what or why? Everything about this was RIDICULOUS her mind screamed. None of it made sense. Harry wanted to scream not out of fear but anger, and frustration, then it occurred to her maybe all three of them were colluding together, maybe all three were conspiring to kill her! Now, that was bordering on paranoia.

Jason pushed open the bedroom door, and before Harry could utter a sound he was by her side, his body soon covered hers, the heavy weight of him made her feel safe and secure, she could feel every muscle and part of him. She couldn't even move her arms to hold him, he completely engulfed her like a human shield. His kiss was soft to start then filled with an urgency, Harry kissed him back with just as much passion and reassurance that she was still alive and still with him.

Slowly Jason lifted his head, there was just a millimetre of air between them, "I thought you were dead, I thought that was it." Jason kissed her neck and nuzzled into her, every time he was this close to her Harry couldn't think straight her entire body was on fire and trembling to be part of him. "I'd never been so scared," Jason whispered between kisses. Harry had so many questions but with him teasing her and arousing every nerve in her body she didn't want to talk she didn't want verbal reassurances that she was safe and with him she wanted him body and soul.
