Chapter 9

Harry slept all through the journey, it only took three hours to get to the remote farm house, that looked like it had once been a barn. It was still dark. Jason turned off the engine, he was tired and felt like he hadn't slept in days. Leaving Harry in the car, Jason thought he'd take a scout round the place before taking her in. The front door was unlocked but a key was on the table just inside. The floors were stone and the walls thick, Jason fumbled his way round and turned on all the lights. The cottage was small but perfectly suitable for them, there was a fireplace in the lounge a small kitchen that could do with a bit of a refurb but it was fine, there were two bedrooms both a good size. Just has he had requested the cupboards were full and there was food in the fridge. There was even a vase of flowers on the side with a note from whoever must be the owner. It was a simple note, leaving a name and number and offering to be of service in anyway they could. Jason left it on the side, he was too tired to take anymore in.

Outside, Jason opened the car door and lifted Harry into his arms. He carried her inside to the top bedroom, the covers already pulled down. He covered her over before fetching in the luggage, locking the car and then the front door. Jason left everything in the hallway, it could all be dealt with later, after at least a couple of hours kip. Jason walked upstairs and was about to go in the other room when he stopped, he wasn't sure what to do. Should he sleep in the other room? Or should he stay with Harry? He did have to keep an eye on her, and when she woke up she won't have a clue where she is. Jason made the decision, he didn't undress just lay on the bed beside her and finally he relaxed and fell asleep.

The winter sun was bright as it shone through the curtains and sent beams of light across the bed and the floor. Jason woke first and found his left arm underneath Harry and she was nestled quite neatly against him. Jason had no idea of the time or how long he had been asleep, he eased his arm from under Harry and searched for his phone in his pocket. 10 am, Jason rubbed his eyes, checked his messages but didn't reply to any of them, he couldn't even if he had wanted to, no service registered on his phone. He sat on the side of the bed.

"Jason?" Harry awoke, she placed her hand on his back .. "am I dreaming?" Harry was confused as she tried to sit up, but soon laid back down as the world was spinning.

Jason turned and smiled, "so you're finally awake? How you feeling?"

"Like I had an argument with a lorry and lost," Harry turned, grimacing as she did so, on her side so she could face him.

"You want something to eat?"

"No, but could murder a cup of tea." Harry held her hand to her head as she tried to rub at her temples as if trying to rub a headache away.

"You got a headache?" Jason asked as he leaned in and wiped at her fringe.

"Amongst other things," Harry tried to laugh, but it came out as a short almost hysterical giggle.

"I'll get you some painkillers, the Dr left a bag full of stuff... you want some morphine?"

Harry shook her head, then regretted it, "No, it's good but blimey that stuff makes you see things, think I was a rave at one point or on a roller coaster." Harry let down her hand and for the first time, she actually opened what she could of her eyes, her right eye was pretty swollen and bruised, she looked round the room, "in fact it's that good cos I have no idea where we are?" Harry tried to sit up and this time Jason helped and she leaned back against the headboard.

"We are in the country side," Jason had thought about trying to explain this all the way up here, but decided the truth was his best option. "You remember yesterday, what happened?"
