Chapter 28

Harry tried to open her eyes, but her head was banging, so her eyes squinted tighter shut. Her head felt like it would split in two. She tried to move but her hands were tied to something, she knew she really had to open her eyes to see what was going on and try to figure out where she was. Harry felt so confused and her thumping head wasn't helping her to think clearly or understand what was going on. Forcing her eyes open it took a few minutes to try and focus on anything and to stay focussed, everything seemed to blur into one. There was no sound, no noise of any kind not a radio or a tv.

She was in a bedroom, on a bed and tied to a bed post, she looked down she was still in just a t-shirt and a hoodie, but at the end of the bed there was a dress laid out. It took a while to realise that she recognised the room, it was where she and Jason had stayed previously, in the Peak District. Harry looked to her hands she yanked them, but they were tied so tight with cable ties, her ankles were crossed and tied too. This is when she realised she should have paid more attention to the tiktok videos showing how to get out of such situations. The curtains were drawn, it was too dark to make much else out, there was no clock in the room. Harry had no idea of the time she had spent in there or how long she had been there; was it a matter of hours or more than a day? Harry screamed out, she screamed again and again, but nothing, no one answered. Her heart pounded in her chest, she was terrified, so frightened she was shaking with fear. Harry yanked again on her ties but nothing, her wrists hurt so much.

'For fuck sake stop it! Stupid cow can't fall apart now... pull it together girl!" Harry drew in a deep shaky breath and then breathed out, she did this several times until she slowed her heart down enough to just slightly beating on panic mode.

A creak outside the door made Harry's head snap sideways, she watched for what seemed like minutes not seconds as the doorknob turned and finally opened. "So, you're awake?" In walked Kevin holding a glass of water, "I was beginning to think you'd never wake up, how you feeling?"

"Are you actually kidding me? How am I feeling? How do you bloody think?" Harry tried to keep her voice even, she didn't want him to see just how panicked she was.

"That's no way to talk to your future husband?"

"My future fucking what?" Harry was sure she was experiencing some sort of parallel universe. "Who are you?"

"It's me Kev, Kevin, we grew up together." Kevin entered the room he was dressed in dark trousers and jumper, he was clean shaven, and looked nothing like he did before when he last got hold of her.

Harry shook her head, "no I am pretty sure we didn't. You've got the wrong person." For some reason Harry felt a little relieved if he had the wrong the person then maybe he would realise it and then just let her go, obviously.

"Sure, we did ... at Banardo's, you were in the hall down from me, remember that day when I fell from the tree, you picked me up, cleaned up my knee."

Harry was silent for a moment as she tried to think... it was like 18 years ago.

"You were reading in the garden it was a beautiful sunny day, and I fell, I was crying you came over, helped me up."

Harry shook her head she just didn't remember, "I'm sorry I don't, you've got the wrong woman, it really wasn't me."

"Harry," Kevin said her name in a disappointed tone, "in time you'll remember, I promise you."

"What do you mean 'in time'?"

Kevin ignored her question, "then there was that time when you gave me your dessert, apple pie, I've never forgotten it. I was crying some kids were picking on me, and you stepped in, you were so kind and nice, it was then that I fell in love with you."
