Chapter 12

Jason put his foot down and the car accelerated up the steep hill out the valley. At first the black BMW fell into the distance, but Jason didn't feel reassured, he just wanted to put a good few miles between them. He kept the speed up as he made his way back onto the main road through the Peaks. It wasn't long before the black car was in his rear view mirror again. "Shit," Jason spoke allowed as he turned down a side road which was more of a single lane track.

"What, you left something behind?" Harry was confused.

"No, we have a car following us."

"You sure, I mean, why follow us?"

Jason kept quiet, he didn't know but he didn't like it.

"Hadn't you better slow down, anyone could be coming the other way and there's not exactly enough room for two cars to pass," Harry gripped her seat with both hands either side.

"Hang, on, Jason took another sharp turn and this time they ended back on a main road.

"You even know where you're going?"

"Yeah.." Jason expertly drove the car along the road, and parked up in a side road, and turned his lights off. It was already getting dark and the fog that was coming down was a blessing in disguise.

"What we do now?"

"We wait, just give it ten minutes."

"Jason I'm scared, what's is going on?"

"I don't know, no one knows where we are could be nothing, I just want to be sure," Jason leant over and kissed her, distracting her quite effectively for a few moments.

"This possibly isn't the greatest time," Harry whispered close to his lips, "You trying to distract me?"

"Is it working?"

"I'm not sure, try again." Just has Jason leaned in again, Bang!

Jason and Harry jumped back, something had hit the rear window with some force, Jason flicked on the lights and started the engine. Jason put the car in drive and pressed the accelerator, the car lurched forward.

"What was that?" Harry screamed.

"Not sure, but not hanging about to find out,"

By now the fog had come in fast and it was difficult to see more than a metre in front of them, Jason knew the roads well but not well enough to speed round in this weather.

"You know the way back?" Harry asked.

"Yeah."

The car shunted forwards as it was hit from behind, it was huge sound that Harry felt sure echoed through the fog. The car behind had no headlights on, as it rammed them again, Harry screamed as Jason put his foot down. It was a game of cat and mouse and so far, Jason and Harry were losing. The black car came at the side of them and tried to push them over into the mountainous side, "they'll flip us over!" Harry held on tight to the seat as if waiting for impact.

"No they won't not in this thing, it's two tonnes of tank..." Jason sped up, they were back on the main road that wound its way round the mountains. There were no road lights just the cats' eyes in the middle, the moon was completely hidden and the grey fog surrounded them. Harry was shaking with fear and Jason was shaking with adrenaline that pumped through him. Jason pushed back as he steered the car into the side of the black BMW, they both swerved there was a screech of breaks and a clashing of metal.

In front a lorry was making its way towards them, it flashed its lights and sounded his horn frantically, Jason pulled forward and got in front of the black car, just as the lorry passed them making aggressive hand gestures.
