Chapter 27

Stepping off the plane Harry was emotionally and physically exhausted. Typically, it was raining, and it was cold, the flight had been packed and by the time she had cleared the airport Harry had to figure out a way to get home. After an hour and half of tube trains and busses, Harry finally walked through her front door. Everything was just as it was as if nothing had happened. Tomorrow there were things to do, get her jobs back for one, got to pay bills, let alone eat. Harry locked the door she thought about making a cup of tea, then realising she had nothing in the house, she made do with a glass of water before stumbling up to bed. Harry found a t-shirt of Jason's that he must have left behind on the floor, as painful as it was to be reminded of him, that t-shirt was the only thing she had left of him and it smelt of his aftershave. Harry felt sure she couldn't cry any more, never had she felt so heartbroken and bereft. As Harry laid there she felt sure sleep would come but it didn't she stared into the darkness and listened to the traffic and the odd sirens go by outside. Harry wondered if Jason had even noticed she had left yet? And was he relieved?

Jason flew through the house in desperation and rage, Harry was nowhere to be found and he couldn't get any sense out of any of the staff. Harry had simply vanished. Jason yelled through the house demanding attention from anyone that would listen. He had found her note lying on the bed on top of the newspaper. Jason didn't even bother to read the paper, he never did as far as he was concerned papers were only good for one use, wiping your ass. All day he had been filming it had been so manic on set that he hadn't even had time to call and check if she was ok, he certainly didn't expect to come home and find her gone. Jason flew down the stairs and found Harrison in the kitchen with some other members of staff.

"Where's Harry?" Jason demanded looking at them all for answers he was in no mood to be messed around with.

Harrison spoke first, "not seen her all-day boss."

"I thought I was paying you to keep an eye on her, I even got in extra security so that she would be safe, and she just vanishes right underneath your nose?" Jason couldn't believe what he was hearing, he was still clutching the note she left him.

"Who gave her the paper? We never have newspapers in the house."

The house maid stepped forward obviously anxious and nervous, "she had a visitor Mr Statham?"

"Who?"

"I believe it was your ex, she was waiting in the front room for Harry. She arrived early this morning demanding to see her?"

"Caron?... What did she say? What did they talk about?"

"I don't know Mr Statham, I left them alone." The maid had lost all natural colour from her face.

"And not one of you saw her today, not one of you thought to tell me that none of you had seen her?" Jason bit out each individual word and fired them at the staff, beads of sweat were beginning to appear on his forehead. Jason could feel a sense of urgent panic settling in his stomach twisting it into painful knots. None of the staff said anything, no one replied to him Jason turned on his heals before throwing open the kitchen door. Jason was straight on his phone, "Caron, what did you say?"

"Well hello Jason darling," Caron's voice dripped down the phone.

"What did you say to Harry?" Jason didn't want to go through niceties, he just wanted answers.

"It's for you own good darling trust me, now I won't hear another word I'll come right over and we can put all this silly mess behind us."

Before Jason could say anything else, Caron had hung up the phone. Jason returned to the bedroom. Harry had left nearly everything even most of the clothes he had bought her and her phone it dropped to the floor as soon as he picked up her jeans, this meaning she must have left in some of hurry or state. There was only one thing he could do and that was take the next flight out and sort this out, there was no way he was just going to let her go, just like that. Jason threw a few things in a bag ran down the stairs and put it by the front door, he found Harrison and gave him an order to be ready to take him to the airport.
