Chapter 19
“Lexi, did you hear me, supper is here,” my mom said standing in the doorway. When did she get here? I nodded and got up following her downstairs.
“Smells good,” I said.
“It’s your favorite, chicken fried rice,” she said. I piled some on my plate and went to my room, quietly shutting my door. The phone started ringing and I sat my plate on the side table.
Grabbing my phone I answered, “Hello?”
“Lexi!” It was Amy.
“Amy, what’s the matter?” I asked.
“Everything is falling apart without you here, you need to come back!” She said crying.
“Amy, I’m sorry but I can’t, I wish I could…” I said.
She started crying harder, “Please.”
“You know exactly why I can’t,” I said.
“What if I can get him to apologize?” She asked.
I sighed, “Amy if he’s gonna apologize he would have, he lost his chance.”
“I know but why do we have to suffer for his mistakes?” she asked.
“Amy I know, it sucks right now, but if it makes you feel better you can call me whenever,” I said.
She sniffled, “Ok, I guess.”
“I have to go, my food is getting cold,” I said.
“Ok, well I’ll talk to you later,” she said. We said our goodbyes and hung up.
I grabbed my food and started eating when the doorbell rang.
I grabbed my bottle of water, “I got it mom!” I yelled. Untwisting the cap I walked to the door. Taking a big gulp I opened the door and spit it out in shock.
“Zack, what are you doing here?” I asked, staring at him.
