Ok, so I know this is a day or two late, but I have little inspiration when it comes to John (sorry), so anything you want me to write about with him, please send in this week, and I will write them asap (and probably release it the next day). To send in a request, you can comment or message me (on my conversations board or private messages). Just tell me what you want to happen in it, what ship it is, your preferred name (or I you can use just your username or be anonymous), and your pronouns.
NOTE- THIS IS HISTORICAL, SO PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS GOING TO BE A LITTLE MORE FEMININE THAN USUAL, HOWEVER IT IS STILL AS GENDER NUETRAL AS POSSIBLE!
Hamiltime- (Y/n)'s POV
Warning- slight sadness, war mentions, cursing (censored)
I sit in the shop sewing a dress for a young lady, when I see him coming down the street. He sat atop a gorgeous white stallion. He stopped in the middle of the square. I got up and walked outside to hear what he was saying. I see I wasn't the only one to make that decision. I see almost everyone in town had gathered around. There are whispers, trying to make sense of what was happening, when he declared, "Hear ye, hear ye! I present an urgent message, from General Washington! 'I come bearing great news. On the night of October 19th, the British surrendered at Yorktown. While they did not end the war, this is most definitely, a turning point for America. I expect the war to be officially over soon. Later that day, after their surrender the British General Charles Cornwallis signed articles releasing prisoners of war, and the terms of surrender. Prepare, my fellow citizens, for your family, who are bravely off fighting for your freedom, shall return soon, I promise you.'" He finished, then repeated it again for those who didn't hear.
I couldn't care less, that I was supposed to be working. I ran home and looked at all the letters me fiancé has sent me since he left to fight. I can still remember the night he left...
FLASHBACK
I had just gotten home from the tailor shop where I work. I took a quick break and quickly sketched an idea that's been in my head for a while. Just as I finished I felt his lips tickle my ear as he slowly whispered, "That's almost as beautiful as you, my dear."
I tried not to blush, as I turned to give him a gentle kiss. "Thank you. It's not as good as some of your work though."
He looked mildly shocked, then offended, then upset. "Darling, why would you ever consider such a thing? By the looks of this, you should be selling your art, not wasting your talent sewing all day!" As he said this he stepped forward and put a hand on my cheek. "Now, we don't have much time do we? I have quite a bit planned for the night, especially considering what today is."
I thought for a moment, then it hit me. It's our anniversary! How could I forget this?
He leaned forward. "May I?" He looked to my lips. I nodded. He gave me an intensely passionate kiss. It felt like it was forever, while it also felt like it was a second. I never wanted it to end. When he pulled away he whispered, inches from my lips, "Don't worry about making dinner tonight. Go to our room and get dressed. I have an exciting evening planned out for us."
I nodded then gave him a quick peck before rushing to get dressed.
I was wearing my semi-formal red dress (or red suit). I ran back to the desk where I was sketching earlier, waiting for John to arrive. He soon entered the room wearing a simple, but nice brown suit. His hair was down, making him seem a few years younger.
When he saw me he stopped. He glanced over my outfit. He saw my hair wasn't over styled, just left in my daily curls (because that's how people did their hair), only more relaxed. My shoes, were the fanciest I had and black as coal. He smirked, "Well, dam (Y/n)! You are stunning!"
I blushed. "Well, you look great as well."
"Are you ready for an amazing night?"
"Always, John."
We locked arms and walked towards the door. He stopped and opened it for me. There standing on the doorstep was a letter, addressed to John. Normally he would ignore it and we would go out, but he was currently waiting for approval to join the Continental army in the revolution.
"I'm so sorry sweetheart, but could we wait a second? This seems urgent." He said after picking it up and examining it. We walked back inside and closed thee door. I saw him scanning the page making unreadable expressions.
"So?" I asked. "What does it say?"
"I was accepted." He said. I was unable to read his tone.
"But isn't that what you wanted? You wanted to get accepted, then help end slavery. That's all you've talked about since you heard they were allowing people to sign up." I asked confused.
"It is....Was what I wanted. I want freedom, I want to help earn it, but I can't bear the thought of living without you. Then above all else, this came tonight."
"Why does it matter that it came tonight? When are you expected at camp? It surely can't be so long that you can't have one night with me." I ask, trying to calm myself.
"No, my dear, they expect me at camp as soon as possible, and if I don't show up within a week they will accuse me of being a traitor." He sighed.
"John, love," I stepped towards him and touched his cheek. "I promise you, we will make up for this night, when you return. We can do whatever you want all day long."
He looks down, then looks away, "And if I don't come back?" He then looks me in the eyes again. "Would you love another? Would you mourn? Would you forget me?" He looked on the verge of tears.
"Why do you worry yourself with silly questions, my love? I assure you, you will come back, and when you do, our love will have grown tenfold. I will never even consider, the possibility of loving anyone, but you. No love in the world could compare to the love we have, and when you have a love that strong, you could never forget. Even in death."
He smiled. "Thank you. For everything." He thought for a second. "Well, I had a whole speech planned, and was going to do this by the pond, after we ate some treats from the bakery, but now we can't go out and I need to pack if I'm going to leave in the morning. Luckily, you just said everything I wanted to say except, for this!" He reached in his pocket and got down on his knee, "(Y/n) (M/n) (L/n), you are the most amazing person I have ever met, and I couldn't think of a single person, who doesn't love you. However, I am certain, no one could ever love you as much as I do. With that said, would you do me the honor, of being my spouse and becoming (Y/n) (M/n) Laurens?"
I was so shocked, but started nodding. "Yes, yes yes! Of course I'll marry you!"
He stood up, slipped the ring on my finger and kissed me like he did when he got home earlier. Brushing against my lips he whispered, "I love you. I promise, I'll be back before you know it."
FLASHBACK END
Ok, so I was going to skip ahead to when he died and see the reader's heartbreak, but I don't want to! I wrote some of this, and just kept thinking of my crush and me, and to be honest, I don't want that to end. (Also I was kinda John in my fantasy version, so I definitely, don't want that now) Lol, sorry I'm weird! Am I the only one who reads some of these and imagines my crush sometimes instead of the character who is in it? Well, ok, I think I just bored everyone by talking about my life, so I just going to say, feel free to vote, comment, and request! I'll see you tomorrow with Day 2 of John Laurens Week!
EDIT- I JUST CHECKED (literally a second after uploading this) AND THIS STORY IS NUMBER TEN IN THE JOHN LAURENS TAG!! I'M DYING!! THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!
