HI!! So....Sorry for not posting in a while... I've been very uninspired lately... So please send in requests! I really love hearing from you guys! So, because I've been on a Newsies craze lately, here is this! I'm probably going to do a Heathers Au next, but not sure! I missed you guys!
Newsies Au- John's POV
Warning- my terrible attempt at writing in an accent, overly quoting Newsies, cursing (censored)
Cast-
Alex, Laff, John, and Herc- Newsies
"King" George- Pulitzer
George Washington- Owns another newspaper, but also an aspiring politician
Philip Schuyler- Overall rich guy
Thomas Jefferson- Spot Conlon
Snyder- Snyder (couldn't think of a Hamilton equivalent of him)
Samuel Seabury- Pulitzer's son sent to trick the newsies into stopping the strike
I'm waiting at the gate with Herc and Laff for the headline to be put up, when a new kid arrives. He's kinda cute, but he looks so sad. I wonder what's wrong with him.
"Well, well, well, look at this a new kid." I say elbowing Herc at pointing at the kid to show him.
"Where?" Asks Laff.
"Hey, new kid!" I shout. He looks up, and sheepishly waves and approaches me. "What's your name?"
"Alexander Hamilton, and you?"
"John, John Laurens. That's Hercules, and Lafayette. So, what brings you to the job?"
"I-uh just moved here, so- I-uh, need something to live off of."
"Orphan?" Herc asked. He winces, but nods. "Well, youse in good hands! Most of us don't have a relation with our parents. Laf here, ran away from France with the help of his grandmotha. My modda died when I was born, and my fadda doesn't approve of me wanting to be a tailor, so I had to support my dream by selling papes. Then John here, he's been here the longest. His dad was an alcoholic and abusive, and needed to get away. His mom passed two years ago from pneumonia."
"That's enough Herc!" John shouts. "Don't need to be tellin' this guy all of our story. So, kid, how's 'bout I teach you the ropes." I say hoping he'll accept. I'm only offering because he's cute.
"Uhh, sure, I guess."
"Right, well, Ally, let's see what we's sellin' today." I say, referring to the board where the headline is written. "Anotha day of the trolley strike! Well, we've been lyin' 'bout this for three weeks, what's one more day."
---
"Well, hello Weasel! I'll take my usual." He gives me my 100 papes.
"Uhh, yes hello, sir! May I get 200 papers?" I stare in shock. There's no way that kid has that much money! Not only that, he can't sell them all in one day.
"Alex, what are you doing?! You're gonna blow all your cash in one day!" I scold him after he receives his papes.
"I can and I will sell them." He says determinedly.
Sure enough he did it. I'm honestly very surprised. He knows how write a headline, and charm a crowd (and charm me).
---
Alex has only been with us for a week, but he's become one of the top sellers (if not the top seller), in the lodge! Then the worst headline I've ever seen came along.
"New newsie price? Sixty cent per hundred? That's outrageous!" Herc shouts upon hearing the news.
"How can George do this? Half us are barely living as it is!" Laff sighs.
Alex, though is unaffected, he goes up to the window and tries to buy his usual, for the usual price. Once denies, he agrees to the price change and is about to give more when I pull him away.
"Ally! What are you doing? Youse just letting "The King" pick our pockets."
"No! I'm just trying to survive! Maybe you should think about that. What's more important, John? Standing up, and losing our jobs, or surviving?"
"Most of us can't survive on this, Alexander. We are broddas here, and if one of us needs help, we help them. I don't know how you were raised on that island, but that's how we do it here in Manhattan." I see the weakness in his eyes.
He takes back his money. "Newsies! C'mere! We can't let Pulitzer do this to us, so what should we do?"
"Well, we could do what the Trolley workers were doing." Laff suggests.
"Yeah, I love the idea of being stuck in a hospital bed, that I can't afford!" Herc rolls his eyes. "Or better yet, we could all get captured by Snyder!"
"Hold the sarcasm boys!" I tell them. "I do like the idea of a strike, so how do we do that?"
"Well, we need a union." Alex says. "Who votes we should have a union?"
"If it means beating Georgie's a$$, then I'm in." Herc says.
"Oui, et moi!" Laff seconds.
"Well, Mr.President of the Newsboy Union of Lower Manhattan, If you don't mind my volunteerin' I'd like to be your second." I suggest.
"Alright, long as you don't get in my way."
I nodded, and that's how it all started.

The strike was fine. Also, we proved that relationships, forged in trials in tribulations, can work, and are the toughest of them all.
We got rejected by "King" George, almost tricked by his son Samuel. Laff got captured by Snyder. We were about to lose hope, but we somehow proved to the infamous Thomas Jefferson, (leader of the Virginia Newsies (who recently relocated to Brooklynn)), to join the strike. Although, nothing ended until George Washington stepped in and forced "King" George to actually recognize us. With the strike settled, Philip Schuyler (the second richest person in New York), ended the refuge.
As for me and Alex, well let's just say we got both Georges campaigning for gay marriage being legal (I know in the 1890's)! Alex is also a political reporter for Washington, while I'm an illustrator.
Laff is lined up for a job under Washington, and Herc is still working on getting his own shop, but for now is working for a small tailor shop owned by Philip Schuyler.
We all still sell papes for the money, but now it's more to remind the fellows about how we still care. We will always care. We have become the parents of the lodging house, and honestly, we love it.
Well that was a sappy ending... Sorry, this took so long! If you read my check in chapter, you'd know I have a lot going on right now, so thank you for dealing with this without complaining. (Like anyone cares enough about my chapters to complain when I don't write, if anything it must be a relief. Like, 'Finally they stopped spamming my notifications!')
Also, thinking about doing a Heathers Au, so here's a question. Which ship?
