Mullette Parents adopt Part II

So first day of school. I started around February, since they found me in late December and it took over a month to get everything organized with me being adopted by them.

"Have a good day Joshua! See you after school!"

"Salut, mon garçon! Have a good day!" (Goodbye, my boy!)

"Salut, Papa! Bye Dad! See you this afternoon!" You waved goodbye to your fathers as you got out of the car and walked to the principal's office as I was told. (Salut=goodbye)

I walked up there and sat down waiting for instructions.

"Joshua Mulligan de Lafayette?"

"Oui?" (Yes)

"Please come in," the principal called.

I nodded and walked in.

"Bonjour, monsieur!" I waved to the principal. Thanks to Papa I now speak a little French and I seem to use it more when I'm nervous. (Hello sir)

"So you're the new kid?"

I nodded.

"Ms.Burr," he called out.

A young girl about my age walked in wearing a pretty red dress with an elastic top portion and loose sleeves. "Yes sir." She said and I detected a slight southern accent in her voice.

"This is our new student, Joshua, will you show him around, since he is in your class?"

"Yes sir."

"Enchanté mademoiselle," I said, holding my hand out for her to shake it. 

"English please!"

"Oh, sorry! Je parle Français when I'm nervous."

"Mr.Washington sir, could you translate please?"

"He said "Nice to meet you, miss" then said he speaks French when he's nervous."

"Nice to meet you too, and there's no reason to be nervous. Thank you, Mr.Washington."

"You're welcome, miss."

"So Joshua, you ready?"

I nodded and followed the beautiful girl.

"What's your name?" I asked, finally able to English.

"Theodosia"

"That is a beautiful name. For a beautiful girl." I mumbled the last part hoping she couldn't hear me.

"Thank you! So I guess I'll show you where everything is, we don't have to be in class for a while since Mr.Washington gave me a pass."

"Ok"

We walked around the school for a while and Theodosia showed me the cafeteria, the recess field, the computer lab, the science lab, the music room, the PE building, and the library.

"I think we should go to class, Ms.Schuyler might get worried. Also it's almost lunch." Theodosia spoke up after introducing me to the librarian.

"Oh, ok then." I responded my sense of ease wearing off already.

"Are you ok Josh?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine just a little nervous." That was an understatement. My palms, face, and pretty much everywhere was sweating, I started to breathe heavily. I thought I was dying.
