{ Song: Be Alright by Dean Lewis }

My tongue is tied and no matter what words I try to get out, they all seem to be stuck somewhere between my mind and my lips. I have lost. Violet won, and in this game there are no do-overs. You play for keeps, and the winner takes it all.
"Oh Freddie, you'd be better off to ask Draco for the truth" she says with a soft sigh before her eyes meet mine, "Your perfect little girlfriend isn't one to kiss and tell"
Violet and I are the only ones who actually know what she's talking about and everyone else looks just as confused as they probably feel. They all stare at Violet as if they are trying to figure out her poorly coded message. The only one who isn't looking at her is Fred. He's looking at me.
"Nova, what is she talking about?" he mumbles.
The smirk on Violet's face grows a little bigger and her eyes glimmer with the triumph of going through with her promise and making it clear that I can't do anything to stop her. If we hadn't stopped here to talk to them, if we would have gone straight to Fred's dorm, then I would have told him myself. It wouldn't come off as if I was being exposed against my will, and I would have had the chance to at least choose which words I would use to tell him about everything. Now it seems like I have to settle for hers.
"Come on, let's just go upstairs" I say quietly and gently pull on Fred's hand to make him follow me across the common room.
"Oh that's actually smart of you, avoid telling him the truth by just letting him touch you the same way that Draco did at the party?" Violet says carelessly, as if it was a normal thing to say.
It's something about the way her voice never actually sounds as if she is accusing anyone of anything that makes it hard to point out just how horrible she is. Sometimes she almost sounds as if she's stupid, and other times she passes it all off as a joke. Besides, she rarely says anything but the truth, even though she twists it to a point where it's about to snap. Somehow it never does, and she always gets away with it. She always wins.
"What is your fucking problem?" I yell at her, "Are you out of your mind?"
"At least I'm not cheating on my boyfriend" she snaps back and there isn't much I can say in response.
My blood almost begins to boil with a mixture of anger and anxiety. If she says much more then there will be no room for me to explain even the parts that might make it seem a little bit more okay than this. If she gives away the ending, he won't listen to the story that leads up to it even if I do my very best to tell it.
"Wait-" Ron says and looks back and forth between me, Fred and Violet.
"Who's cheating?" George asks in the same confused tone.
"I know I'm not" Violet says and shrugs her shoulders and keeps her eyes fixed on me.
She's staring me down as if she is expecting me to admit to it right here and now in front of everyone without any further explanation. Maybe it doesn't even matter if I do, because it seems like she is willing to say just about anything to tear me down right now and phrase her words in the least sensitive way possible without a care in the world for what it is doing to Fred.
"Tell me it's not true" Fred says quietly and looks down on me, "Tell me that this is just like what happened at home, that it's just a misunderstanding"
My eyes quickly meet his but the way that my nerves have me shaking with anxiety and discomfort won't allow me to keep eye contact for more than a brief moment. The way my chest is feeling tighter by the second as if all I'm breathing in is heavy water from the bottom of an ocean full of pain makes it unbelievably difficult to think any proper thoughts.
