The popping sound of bubbles bursting over and over again has echoed through the dorm for so long that it has started to feel like it's engraved in the back of my mind.

Fred is lying crosswise on George's bed and waves his wand in little motions to create shimmering bubbles that he then proceeds to chase with his fingers until all of them have burst. Once this is over, he instantly begins to make more bubbles by quietly mumbling the incantation for the bubble producing spell.

This has been going on for at least half an hour.

"Have you always been this annoying?" I say with a sigh and drop the book of divination on the bed in front of me.

"You mean have I always been this cute?" he says and takes his eyes off of the bubbles that float up to the ceiling as he looks over at me.

"Somehow you manage to be both" I say and try to keep the corner of my mouth from turning upwards.

"But mostly cute" he says with a goofy grin and walks over to where I'm sitting on his bed, then lays down with his head on my lap.

"Mostly cute" I agree while running my hand through his flaming, soft hair, and he instantly closes his eyes with a relaxed smile on his face.

This is one of those moments when I want to freeze the picture, so that I can stay here forever. It's one of those little things about him that I fall in love with more and more with every passing day; the way that these soft head scratches are the only thing that makes him this calm when he's awake, how he constantly bothers me one way or another until he gets my attention only too tell me that he folded a paper plane without magic or that he thinks that I look pretty, that he hates when the sleeves of his sweater reach down over his wrists and therefore prefers to keep them rolled up to his elbows whenever he's not in class.

I wonder if he knows. All the little things that he does without even thinking about them are the very things that make my heart flutter with joy in my chest whenever I'm near him, and I wonder if he knows about all those little reasons that I'm in love with him.

"Can you read to me?" he mumbles.

"About divination?" I say and giggle, "Didn't you take this class last year?"

"Yeah but it's not like I was paying attention, this is going to be brand new information" he says and looks up at me with eyes that sparkle with a playfulness that couldn't even be seen in the eyes of the happiest child.

I roll my eyes as I laugh softly and as soon as I have opened up the book, he grabs my hand and puts it back on the top of his head as a silent demand for the head scratching to continue. Holding the book with one hand and running my fingers through his hair with the other, I read a chapter on crystal-gazing out loud as if it was a bedtime story.

"I like your voice" he mumbles after a while.

"I'm afraid that's all we have time for, it's time to go to the meeting, pretty" I say and lean down to plant a kiss on the tip of his nose which makes him wrinkle his whole face with a shy smile.

He sits up on the edge of the bed with a sigh as he stretches his arms out before he turns his head back to me. He looks at me with an unreadable kind of look on his face that doesn't give away much more than that he's thinking of something that he keeps himself from saying out loud.
