{ Song: Paradise by Coldplay }

The word that was the last thing I heard before everything around me had disappeared doesn't sound real when I repeat it over and over in my mind. It can't be real. It shouldn't have worked.
For a few minutes, I refuse to open my eyes as the worst case scenario begins to feel more likely than what I'm hoping for. When I can't keep them closed any longer, I glance around the room and the panic that fills my whole body when I realise where I am physically hurts.
I'm back in my original reality, and the room that I have woken up in is not the one that my eyes have met every morning for the past months.
"No, no, please no" I whisper and sit up on the bed, "This can't be happening, this isn't real"
The thoughts are racing through my mind, relieving each other as the next becomes more disturbing than the last, and I reach for the phone where it's laying on my bedside table where I had left it. When the screen lights up and the date makes it clear that it is no longer the middle of February, a chill more freezing than ice runs through my body with a mixture of disappointment and terror.
3:49 AM THURSDAY, 12 NOVEMBER
It's the night after I shifted, and not the day after the valentine's ball. I'm back in my original reality, and I did not go back here willingly. Of course, a part of me knew that I would have to return eventually, but I assumed that I would get to decide when it would happen.
That decision had been taken away from me when whoever was behind me on the quidditch pitch said the safe word that I had never told anyone about. It shouldn't have worked when someone else said it, but it's painfully clear that somehow it did.
It's as if everything I thought I knew has turned out to be wrong, and I had assumed that it would only work if I were the one to say it. The day that Violet had come to Hogwarts it had become clear that my script was flawed to say the least, but not once did I expect it to turn out to be this bad.
Before I manage to get my thoughts together, I instinctively do what this version of me has always done whenever something out of the ordinary or strange happens. With fingers that are trembling anxiously, I click through the apps on my phone and open up my text conversation with Alice and type out a short cry for help.
SOS
I have to tell you something crazyAs soon as the message has been sent, the situation in the world that I just came back from begins to catch up with me. For the past few months, the face of my best friend has belonged to a person who is the nearest thing to a sociopath that I have ever met. Even though their faces are identical, their personalities couldn't be more different. However, a part of me can't seem to separate the two from one another.
Violet has been trying to sabotage just about everything in my life with no logical reason or explanation to why she hates me so much. When Fred and I had been broken up, she never seemed to be interested in pursuing a relationship of any kind with him and she had stayed with Harry. There is no question that she despises me but even with the distance of the whole universe between that scenario and my current reality, I can't make it make sense.
Of course, Alice doesn't actually have anything to do with her except that they share the same face. The colour of their eyes are different, their personalities are nothing alike and Violet only exists in a reality that Alice has never been a part of.
