It's curious how something as simple as love can be both the easiest and the most difficult thing that you come across in life. There are no hesitations in my heart nor in my mind of what I feel for Fred, and falling in love with him is probably the easiest thing I've ever done. What makes it difficult is the fear of losing that feeling; the fear of losing him.

The conversation we had about the tension between me and Violet has become secondary to simply standing with my arms around his neck and his hands resting on my waist while looking into each others eyes as if nothing else existed.

"You're pretty" I say and smile up at him.

"And you're tiny" he says and grins down at me.

"Oh shut up, I'm not even that short" I say and punch him playfully on his shoulder.

"Yeah you are, when you're standing next to me" he says and boops my nose with his fingertip.

"Because you're a giant, that doesn't mean that I'm the one who's small"

"Tiny" he says again.

"Fred, stop it!"  I say and giggle.

"Nope" he says and grins, "from now on your first name is tiny"

"Fine, then yours is pretty" I say and look up into his eyes that sparkle with such joy and playfulness that I wonder if I would ever be able to stay mad at him for anything.

"I can live with that" he says and puts his hand on the side of my face as he leans down to kiss me again.

Yes, this is without a doubt the easiest thing in the world. Feeling his soft lips against mine doesn't necessarily make the world stop as much as it makes it irrelevant. When he holds me this close it's almost like we have a secret that can't be exposed to anyone outside of the 'us' that has become of the feelings that have come to grow between us. Not the past nor the future exists in these moments, there is only the present of falling deeper in love with all the little things that I learn about him.

When the kiss eventually breaks, my mind zones back into the reality around us and the world instantly begins to matter again. The past creates a playfield for whatever is being handed to us by the future, and all the things that had felt easy only moments ago are now the same things that make the hours ahead of us unpredictable and intimidating in a way that makes me feel nauseous.

"You okay?" he says and examines my face as I fail to conceal my concern.

"Yeah, I kind of look forward to when all of this is over though" I say and gesture towards the rest of the room.

"Let's just try to keep a low profile for the next few hours and we'll be alone again before you know it" he says and places another soft kiss on my lips before pulling away again.

"May I borrow my twin for a bit?" George says out of nowhere and looks at me mockingly like he always does when pointing out that Fred and I never seem to be apart.

"As long as you bring him back in one piece" I say and laugh softly.

"Can't make any promises" he says with a smirk.

"I'll see you soon" Fred says and quickly kisses me on the forehead before he takes off with George.

I shake my head as I watch the two of them make their way through the room to do Merlin knows what, and once they're out of sight I find my way back to the rest of the group in hopes that they might have split in to smaller parties by now. To my disappointment, although it's not really a surprise, Violet is one of the people who haven't gone elsewhere.
