{ Song: Another Love by Tom Odell }

There is a fine line between bending the truth and turning every word of a simple story into a lie. As we are headed towards the Wizengamot at the ministry where the trial will take place, the anxious idea of doing the latter increases with every step I take. Over the next hour, everything will be decided by minds that none of us can control, and our only hope is that they will be willing to listen.

Ever since it had become clear that our story wouldn't add up if we tried to include anything that isn't a lie, I had tried to still my conscience with the fact that we didn't actually do something wrong. It doesn't really matter if we lie, because we didn't commit the crime that we are being accused of. The alibi will lead to the same outcome as the truth, but the truth won't be convincing enough to sound believable.

"Do you think we should have told them about the wand?" Theo whispers as we walk a few feet behind Snape, "Maybe it would have helped, for all we now this could be a closed case without the trial if it's enough to prove that we had nothing to do with it"

"We still don't know who disarmed Cedric and it could have been tampered with to make things look even worse for both of us" I whisper in response to remind him that it isn't that easy, "And besides, it's a little late for that now"

The massive door to the courtroom opens dramatically as we enter the room full of people dressed in black and plum coloured robes with sharp, unfriendly looks on their faces. There are too many people in the room to count them, but only a quick overview tells me that there are at least forty people, maybe more, sitting to the left and right of Cornelius Fudge who is behind a podium right in front of us.

The room is built with dark stone walls that are lit by torches however dimly and weak the light flickers, creating a hostile atmosphere that makes a freezing chill of discomfort spread through my body as Theo and I are placed in the two chairs in front of the excessively large jury. The way all of this is being dealt with makes it clear that they do not take this lightly, and that Cornelius' fear has really gotten the best of him.

When I had dreamt of shifting to the wizarding world, this was not on the top of the list of things I expected to experience. As we wait for the trial to begin, the fear that I have hidden in the very back of my mind creeps out and demands to be recognised.

Maybe I will never get to go back to Hogwarts. Maybe I won't see the friends that I have made, or even cast another spell.

Maybe being with Fred in the classroom was our final goodbye.

Right before the thought becomes too much to handle, I force myself to get back to what matters here and now. I repeat the story that we have agreed to tell to myself over and over again in my head as he reads over the different points and accusations. While there is not much evidence that we can use to prove that we had nothing to do with the actual breakout, they can't possibly have a better way to prove that we did.

"Now, we have reason to believe that the man behind the mass breakout that took place on the thirteenth of January earlier this year is a previous prisoner of Azkaban who escaped himself, the mass murderer Sirius Black. What will be decided here today is whether the two of you were involved in this crime as well" he says with a heavy sigh, "We will be treating the charges against the two of you as one united case since you are both equally responsible for the incident in case you will be found guilty"

"Hold on, what?" I say and turn to give Snape a terrified look, "That's not fair, Theo didn't do anything-"

"And neither did you" he cuts me off with a sharp whisper.
