a couple of days later

my arms stretched above me as i sighed happily from another good nights sleep. i tilted my head and picked my phone up to check the time, 9:32am, early for once. after staring at the wall for a couple of minutes, i slithered out of bed and headed to my en-suite. once i was finished using the bathroom and getting dressed, i sprayed on some perfume and headed to the kitchen.

"moooorning" a voice called out, i looked behind me to see pietro sticking his head out of the side of his bedroom door. "morning piet" i said joyously.
"i'll be in the kitchen in a second" he said, ruffling the mop on his head. when he said second, he meant second. with a blink of an eye, he had disappeared and from what i guessed, he was in the kitchen.

once i arrived, everyone sat together, some eating and some drinking hot beverages.
"good sleep y/n/n?" tony asked, as he passed me a cup of coffee.
"great sleep, thank you for this" i replied, lifting up the warm cup in my hands. i sauntered over to the window, it was raining outside. the cup which was sitting in my hands, slowly burned my skin, the steam dancing in front of my nose. the raindrops on the window stayed still, other droplets raced eachother.
"morning bucky" nat said behind me. i tensed up, not daring to look behind.
"mhm morning" a deep voice replied. i could feel eyes on me and i knew that steve had told everyone what i had told him a few nights ago, the tension in the air was thick, you could've cut it with a knife.

"we met a few days ago" bucky said behind me. my hands tightened on the mug as i continued staring out of the window. yes i had avoided him for the past few days, so what? when i looked around, everyone had left the room. he sat opposite me, staring intently at the window, as if he was trying to figure out what was so interesting about it.
"i'm bucky" he said, breaking the beautiful silence. i could feel the mug cracking slightly at the pressure i was putting on it, but i put on a brave face and took a breath.
"okay", i said bluntly, not bothering to even look at him. he went quiet, even his breathing was annoying me. before i could stop it, the mug shattered in my hands.
"are you okay?-" he began to ask.
"i'm fine" i grunted and stood up, throwing the pieces of porcelain into the bin before walking out.

"woah y/n what's wrong?" steve asked, placing his hands on my shoulders to stop me from shoving past him.
"nothing, i just have a sore head". i sighed, rubbing at my temples.
"y/n!" tony shouted behind me, i turned around and gave him a tight lipped smile.
"a word?" he asked, i nodded and he led me to a quiet area.
"you're going to hate me for this but, there's a small hydra base and i need you to go clear it". he said. my eyebrows furrowed together in confusion,
"that's okay" i said. tony scratched the back of his neck nervously.

"you and bucky will be going". he said calmly.
"i beg your pardon" i said, nearly in a whisper.
"it's only so you and him can bond and get rid of the whole you know 'tension'" tony started explaining. i crossed my arms over my chest,
"no, tony you know what he-" i began saying, he held his finger up as a sign for me to shut up.
"look i get that, i get that more than anyone. i just don't want this team to fall apart again". he said softly. i felt bad, i knew tony had been through more than me.
"fine, for you fine" i grunted. tony smiled and patted my shoulder,
"but if he dies. i'm leaving him there" i added.
"good enough, tomorrow 9am" tony chirped before walking away.
well shit.
