After waiting for hours for Naomi to come home I heard a knock on my office door.

"Come in," I said looking up.

I saw the one person I thought I'd never see for a long time, Amy..... the same Amy I was an idiot with as a kid and cheated on my perfect fiancée with.

"Hi, Kaden" she smiled.

"What are you doing here, how did you get my address?" I said standing up.

"I um-I got into some financial issues," she said looking down, I haven't even noticed the baby on her waist.

I was so confused about the fact that she was here that I hadn't even seen the baby.

"Who's this?" I said looking at her.

"This is Jacob," she said smiling at the baby.

"What's the issue that you have?" I said sitting down, I ran my hands through my hair.

"I'm uh I'm going broke and I'm about to lose my house," she said looking down.

I looked up at her and then the baby, I took a deep breath in and took out a check from my drawer.

"How much?" I said looking at her.

"Twenty thousand," she said looking down.

I itched my temple and put my hand over my forehead, I wrote the check for eighty thousand and passed it to her.

"Eighty thousand," she said surprised, I saw a test roll down her cheek and I looked at her baby.

"Kaden I don't know what to say" she whispered.

"Thank you" I mumbled.

"Yes yes thank you," she said wiping her tears.

"It should be enough to double the debt and keep you and your baby on a steady income until you find a good job," I said still looking at the baby.

I heard talking from outside my office and I saw Naomi walk in with bags of shopping, she was smiling and then she looked up and saw Amy and I.

"What the fuck" I heard Naomi say.

"it's not what you think Nai, she just needed help," I said.

"You can take this back," Naomi said dropping the shopping bags and trying to pull the ring off her finger.

I felt broken, like my rights were wrong and that I shouldn't be helping Amy but she has a baby, isn't that the right thing to do.

Even if I hate Amy with everything inside of me, I should at least care about the baby that has nothing to do with any of this.

"I'm going to go" I heard Amy say and she walked out the door and I saw Naomi cross her arms. I walked up to Naomi.

I gripped her hands and she tried kicking me, "get off me" she said angrily.

"Naomi calm down," I said, Naomi was still struggling to kick me, I pulled her close to me.

"Just calm down okay," I said and she rested her head against my chest.
