"mom, dad! i don't need a boyfriend!"
"sweetheart, you're twenty-three and have never even been in a relationship, let alone had a boyfriend," his mother told him, trying to convince him.
"i know..." chanhee started. "but how am i meant to date someone if i don't like them. i'm not just going to get some random guy to be my boyfriend!"
the woman sighed and turned to look at her husband who nodded, which made her look back to her son. "honey," chanhee looked up from where he was looking at his lap. "we may of already set you up on a date."
thw boy's eyes widened as he stared at his parents. "you... what?! why?"
"you know why," his father then said and chanhee continued to stare at them with disbelief.
"b-but with who?" chanhee stuttered.
"well... a friend of ours has a son and he's actually looking for a boyfriend. so we suggested you and he was fine with meeting you. apparently he's actually excited about it, so you're going and that's final," his mother said.
"what no―︎"
"be quiet. you're going to meet him. you need a boyfriend, chanhee! i don't want my son being lonely for the rest of his life," the woman interrupted him.
"when even is it?" the son asked making the parents share a look.
chanhee's father then spoke. "surprise! it's actually today. so you better go get ready. you're meeting in an hour."

and that's how chanhee ended up standing in the middle of the park, having no idea where to go. his parents were not very helpful in the slightest. all they told him was the guy's name, he didn't even know what he looked like.
he was hoping that the guy would come up to him, not wanting to approach the other. but he wasn't sure how he would approach him when he didn't even know who he was.
chanhee knew that he probably looked like a complete fool right now. he was just standing in the middle of the park. he had gotten some weird stares, and he was starting to get really nervous and started to overthink things. he was thinking about going home. it was twenty minutes passed the time they were meant to meet and chanhee was wondering whether the other had forgotten or decided not to come.
