THEO hey, can we hang out today?
INTAK sorry, i'm hanging out with jiung. maybe another day.
theo sighed as he read that message. he wasn't surprised to be honest. the past two months, ever since intak and jiung started dating, intak has spent no time with theo. they used to be together 24/7, but it all changed. and he seemed like the only one that was bothered by it. but that was one, because they were best friends, and two, because theo had a massive crush on the other.
he fiddled with his phone for a few minutes before deciding to go out by himself. he left his room and went downstairs, put on his shoes and coat before leaving the house. he wasn't sure where he was going to go, but he just didn't feel like being at home right now.
he wandered the streets and ended up making his way to the park. It was most likely by habit, since him and intak used to go here all the time.
theo stopped in his tracks when he saw two familiar people sat on a bench, not too far away. he furrowed his eyebrows and then he realised who they were. he huffed and carried on walking, so he had to pass by them, when suddenly he heard jiung say something that caught his attention.
"when are you going to tell him?"
he knew he shouldn't eavesdrop, but he was really curious on what jiung meant by that, and the two hadn't noticed him yet. so, he decided to sit on another bench that wasn't too close to them, but close enough to hear what they were saying.
"i'm not sure... it's not that easy," he heard intak say.
"i know, but you can't just keep it a secret forever. and we can't pretend to date for however long it takes for you to tell him," jiung then said.
theo's eyes widened at what he heard. they were... fake dating? but why?
"and anyways, even if he does reject you, at least you've gotten it off your chest. also, theo's your best friend, he won't just hate you for confessing to him. he isn't that kind of person," jiung spoke again.
saying theo was shocked was an understatement. he was so overwhelmed and didn't know what to think. this can't actually be happening right now...
theo stood up and quickly rushed off, he didn't want to be there anymore. he immediately headed back home so he could lock himself up in his room and think about what he just heard. luckily, he got there in no time and quickly took off his shoes and coat before rushing upstairs. his behaviour confusing his parents.
he flopped onto his bed and put his arm over his eyes. he sighed and felt himself slowly start to fall asleep when he suddenly jolted up at the sound of the doorbell.
he heard his mother shout from downstairs. "honey, intak's here and he wants to speak to you!"
theo's eyes widened and he started freaking out. what was he here to talk about? he didn't want to make himself suspicious so he quickly got up from his bed and left his room. as he was walking down the stairs, he heard his mother talking to Intak.
"yeah, he just came home. i'm not sure where he went, but he seemed really freaked out and shocked when he got here. he immediately rushed to his room. crazy child..." she explained to intak. "maybe you could talk to him and find out what's wrong."
theo stopped when he heard the last bit. he was eavesdropping for the second time today, but he had good reasons for it.
his father then spoke. "he's been acting strange for the past two months actually. hardly leaving his room, never going out, not eating as much, sleeping basically all the time. just talk with him, yeah?"
he saw intak nod and that's when he decided to walk in the room, causing all of them go look at him. he stared at the three when suddenly his mother spoke.
"how about you two go up to theo's room, yeah? and talk about whatever intak needed to talk about," she said and the two nodded.
the parents left the room and the other two went up to theo's room. intak was shocked when he walked inside. it was an absolute mess. theo usually kept his room tidy, so it confused him. he then watched as theo laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling. intak frowned when the other didn't speak to him and took a deep breath in. he went and sat on the bed as well. he grabbed theo's hands and pulled him to sit up.
"i'm guessing you're a bit confused on what i need to talk to you about. but i realised that it was time to tell you, so here i am!" intak explained and theo nodded.
"basically... me and jiung were never dating. i was stupid and asked him to fake date me so i could make my crush jealous, but i didn't work. and..." intak trailed off, not knowing if he should say the last part.
theo was shocked at what he just heard, but tried to not show it since he didn't want to get his hopes up. "and..?"
intak sighed. "...and you're my crush. i have a massive crush on you and i know you're my best friend but i've liked you since... well for like two years now."
theo's eyes widened and his mouth fell open in shock. so... what he heard at the park was true. he didn't know what to do and he wasn't sure if this was actually happening or not. what if it was a joke? or what if he was dreaming?
"s-seriously...?" theo stuttered.
intak bit his bottom lip and nodded. "yeah..."
the younger was shocked when suddenly theo hugged him tightly. he hesitantly hugged back and wrapped his arms around him. after a minute they pulled away and stared at each other.
"...i kind of already knew," theo then muttered.
"huh?" intak was confused.
"so... I sort of eavesdropped at your conversation at the park and i heard you say something about a secret and got curious so i listened. but I didn't know that you were there, I just went out by myself since you were with jiung and saw you guys there and it kind of just happened..." theo was out of breath by the time he finished speaking because of how quickly he said all of it.
intak sighed with a smile on his face. "so there was really no point in me confessing then?"
"no, there was. i wasn't really sure if you were being serious or not," theo pointed out. "and also i've liked you for around two years now as well... and the reason I was acting weird for the past two months was because you told me that you and jiung were dating."
intak rolled his eyes playfully and then spoke. "so, does this mean we're boyfriends now?"
theo looked at him as if he were crazy. "obviously."
