PoV: Hange

The huge amounts of anger and frustration inside of myself were about to overcome me just by the sight of Floch's smug face. His ugly goddamn hair and his whole way of speaking disgusted me more than the fact that I was under the control of mainly him.

I lost everything in this war. Not just the others. Yeah sure, maybe I used to be the determined one, but that didn't mean I haven't already walked through hell myself...

The last sentence my mom said to me was "You must live on, Hange." I still remembered it as if it was yesterday.

She was eaten by a Titan. Just like my dad. I was so furious about killing them at first, I almost forgot about that time.

It's funny how I still forgot it would be a hundred times easier if we were young again.

A light strike lit the landscape and I snapped back to reality.

"...?! What is that?" I heard Floch's disgusting voice ask with a hint of confusion and I stared at the place it was coming from.
"A lightning strike?" One of the Yaegerists around me guessed but I knew better.

It's a thunderspear... But the location Zeke is confined is supposed to be still further on.. what on earth is going on over there?

Feeling the need to get there as fast as possible, I cleared my throat and began to talk in a calm voice.

"There must be something happening in the direction where the sound comes from." I pointed out and ignored Floch's suspicious look on me.

He could go to hell if he wanted to.

Making our way to the source, I widened my eyes at what was right in front of me.

"Wha-.." Floch started but the yells of the rest suffocated his words.

"Be careful! There's a Titan!"
"Its body is scattered about!"

Completely ignoring the shouting, I rode a little closer and my eyes found the cart which was split in a thousand parts.

The cart... was blown away..?

"Commander Hange! Don't move around on your own!" A guy shouted angrily, but my mind was already caught up somewhere else. A worried expression spread over my face and I kept trying to seem calm while looking for bodies.
As I catched sight of a person lying on the dirty ground, overgrown with blood and pieces of wood, I jumped down from my horse and almost sprinted there faster than my legs allowed me to.

Please, please not another one dead who mattered to me. Please..

Sliding onto my knees immediately when I arrived, I catched a shaky breathe while lifting up the persons head into my arms carefully.

"Hey! Are you still alive?!" I tried not to shout but it got harder when I inspected closer for identifying the person lying here.

"Levi..?" I muttered when I noticed and tears were forming in my eyes as I was already convinced he was dead.
A whole long scratch went across his face and he in general looked like a dead man.

Hearing the rest of my hijackers coming closer, I was tempted to just hold Levi closer to not let them see who it was, but I knew I couldn't give up like that. He had to be alive.

Floch stepped right behind me, a sparkle of hate in his eyes while speaking.

"I have no idea what happened, but we're lucky our number one threat is there all bloodied up." Floch noticed like it was funny and the urge to punch him in the face grew with every second.

He didn't get to talk like that. That piece of trash deserved to die in Sasha's place back then. Floch deserved to die in any way. He should have been caught by a thunderspear instead.
That motherfuu-

"He's dead," I responded dryly while fighting in my head with myself so I wouldn't jump on Floch's throat for killing him.
"He got caught up in the explosion of a thunderspear at point blank range. I've seen similar accidents during training but beyond external wounds, internal organs would be ripped to shreds and death would be an instant." I forced myself to say while looking down for giving them the expression I was dealing with the pain of loss.

"I can also take his pulse," Floch just said and my glance shot up. For one second our eyes met and a wave of hate spread from mine over to his, causing his left eye to twitch a bit.
"So let me have a look." He added and a smug grin appeared on his crusty lips.

I was about to say something when another explosive sound was audible.
