Already waking up early that morning, I opened my eye to look at Hange as a check in which was slowly becoming a habit. One of my hands was over their waist whilst my other was under my own head as a form of support.

They looked so peaceful when asleep. Without any worry and concerns like nothing bad could ever reach them. Of course that was an impossible imagination, but still. I couldn't help to hope they'd find their smile and hope again some day. Whatever way it may be.

Carefully stroking a strand of hair out of their face, I let out a quiet sigh whilst examining their expression. Exhaustion was already showing on their facial features in forms of big eyebags and an ash-like skin color that wasn't even pale any longer.

Glancing at them for another few minutes, I eventually turned my gaze away from the other, paying attention to what I could hear in our surroundings. I knew I couldn't let anything happen now, but it wasn't like I could prevent things from taking a negative turn. It's always been that way. Every time it seemed as a legit break.

"Don't frown so much, you'll get folds." I heard Hange say jokingly whilst yawning, one of their fingers tapping against my forehead, causing me to focus back on the brunette.

"Maybe," I responded, placing one of my hands on their cheek, looking at the scar that was across their left eye.
An eyepatch would be uncomfortable while sleeping, therefore they had put it off beforehand. It looked rough and scarred, also showing clearly that they were blind on that side.

"You're doing it again." They mumbled quietly, moving a little closer so our foreheads were almost touching now.
"Doing what?" I asked back, my frowning deepening furthermore as I questioned them.
"Here. Frowning." I only felt them reach their head up and leaving a soft kiss on my forehead, causing the rest of my face to be darkened by a redder shade of color.

"Let me be. It's not bothering anyone." Shaking my head, I backed away a bit to try and sit up like the day before, my arms trembling under the weight of myself.

"Wait let me help you-," Hange already stretched their arms out but I shook my head repeatedly, convinced I could manage it on my own.
"No, I got this!" I snapped at them, gritting my teeth afterwards until I was able to push myself as far as sitting leaned against the closest tree.
I felt bad for snapping at them. They tried what they could and that was my thanks for it? Embarrassing.

"You made it! I knew you could do it!" They laughed, punching my arm playfully and pretty lightly, I barely even felt a thing.
"Thanks, four eyes," I just sighed, taking a deeper breath for recovering from my actions. I felt ridiculous. "Sorry for lashing out on you."

"No worries, I wouldn't have reacted differently. I'll go and finish the bow I started to make for hunting. I remember Sasha showing me a while ago.." A sad expression appeared on their face for a brink second, but they shook it off right away.
"I'll be back!" With that words, they disappeared to somewhere behind me and further away.

The mentioning of the name had something sad. After seeing her and the other cadets basically growing up under our care it was like a hit in the face when she died because of the kids that sneaked onto our airship.
Sasha could have easily lived if we had listened the first time she mentioned she had heard a noise. Her hearing had been proven to be accurate, so it was our fault as well.

Leaning my head back, I exhaled some air and closed my eyes, sinking straight into my thoughts right away.

We'd have to either wait until anything happened, or hope and ignore that stuff.
We'll see, I guess.
