PoV: Hange
Almost finished with stiching up his wounds, especially on his face, I chuckled quietly for giving myself more hope in this mess.
Blood was surrounding me and got my hands dirty, well, filthy, how Levi would say, and I wiped it away on my pants carelessly.Caressing his bandaged hand for a moment, I studied his facial expressions and then let go again with a beaten and weak smile.
"Everyone was turned into Titans, but only you survived," I began telling him about everything that happened in case he didn't already know. Maybe it was stupid since I didn't know if he could hear me, but oh well. What else was there to do.
"The fact that you're still alive with these wounds is for the same reason, isn't it?" I fowned a bit and cut off the strand of thread while saying the last, following part.
"Because you're an Ackerman."Sitting down next to his body that was lying on the ground, I put my hands up against my own head and clenched my teeth while sighing shakily.
I couldn't let this all get to me. Now I had to be responsible and think of every possibility we had and then choose wisely.Eventually, my gaze was back at Levi, but all I was, was worried, so I carried on talking like before already. It somewhat calmed me to talk to him, it didn't even matter that he couldn't respond. He was alive, and that was more than enough.
"I wonder..." I started off quietly, then closed my eyes and talked louder in case his ears were damaged as well.
"Just what happened. We can't stop Zeke by ourselves, we have no choice but to leave it to Armin and Pixis..." I noticed and realized, and opened my eyes for staring at the ground, one hand used as support for my head while the other one drew random things into the brown ground."Even if for instance we assumed Eren was betraying Zeke.. As long as the Yaegerists rule this island with the spinal fluid we're going to be wanted people for our whole lives here." I sighed repeatedly and a crooked smirk appeared on my lips once again.
"It's probably our turn now. Even if we intend on doing the right thing... the times change, and we're the ones in the cell." I looked over at Levi, sadness and a bit of pain in my eyes while doing so. Just letting out what was in my head, I carried on with my one-sided conversation."I'd rather just the two of us live here..."
The moment I said that, it almost seemed like a switch was turned on inside of my head. Staying here, away from everything. We'd have a chance chance survive without being involved any longer. We have fought so long for freedom, for so many years and through uncountable losses of death. It started with Titans and ended with humans, I should have realized sooner. Maybe especially when Connie said he thought that his mom was a Titan, because it seemed similar to her on that one house of his.
Maybe our friends wouldn't be dead if I found out sooner."Right... Levi?"
