I couldn't really find peace with myself. I decided to act against my own morals with staying here instead of going right back into the war. It was somewhat selfish, but Hange was probably right.

At this point I was nothing but a wreck. To be honest, I thought I couldn't even move without the help of someone else, but that didn't change the bad feeling inside of my stomach.

"Hange?" I asked quietly, turning my head a little to look at them.

They were asleep already as it seemed, still half on the blanket and half on the grass.

As stubborn as always, huh?

With a sigh, I tested if my arms were able to move again. Relief was filling me when I managed it and it all worked perfectly.

After arguing with myself a couple of seconds on whether or not to just do what I thought was right, in the end I was coming to the conclusion not to think too much about it.

Shaking my head slightly about myself, I used one of my arms as support to be able to turn to my side, with the other pulling Hange carefully closer while trying not to wake them up.
Feeling weakness overcome me again, I gritted my teeth, finishing to pull them gently.

How were they even able to sleep this deep?

Seeing the survey corps cape lying behind them, I reached out for it and eventually put it over the brunette, examining their face with a weak expression for a bit before I noticed that there was a tear rolling down their cheek.
Not knowing what else to do as I also didn't want to wake them up, I put my arm over their side, after a while feeling them- probably subconsciously- moving closer to me as well, burying their head in my chest and their breathing going more regular again.

Not knowing how else to react to it, I just stayed how I was while feeling my face partly heat up beforre stopping to tense up eventually and letting my aching muscles relax.
Tiredness overcame me, but I didn't want to let myself give in yet.
I still had to.. I still..

A few seconds later, I fell asleep. Still holding Hange in my arms tightly, but not so much that it could hurt them.

Look at us, starting where it all ended.
