PoV:Hange

Walking through the thicket of the forest, I went after my own thoughts at the same time.

"Don't die."

I remembered his words, it made me feel scared again. I didn't want to die, but in a world such as this one, could I promise not to leave? No one planned to die.. Moblit, Erwin, Nanaba, Miche, Gelgar and the whole rest. They had their lives in front of them and it was taken by someone else's choice.
Was I meant to ignore that and go back into this insane war? We still had a chance to repay out guilt..

"Shut up, shut up, shut up." I muttered to myself, my hands on my head as I squeezed my eyes close as if it could stop my brain from thinking all of this.
"We made a decision, and that's final. Goddammit." I argue with myself while walking closer to the lake I came from together with Levi.

As it appeared in my sight, I let out a sigh of relief and grabbed after the field bottle everyone owned due to the war.
Filling it up with as much water as possible, I closed it tightly again, hoping nothing was broken.

We'll definitely need something to hunt with...

Getting back up on my legs again, I put the bottle onto my back and began pacing through the rest forest.
Maybe I could find a stick or something I would sharpen later.
"This is a mess." I talked to myself and sighed. Then I just picked the next best stick and went back to mine and Levi's hide-out. Well. If you could call it that.

"Leeeviii!" I waved with my free hand and knelt down next to him.
"Here, hold this," I forced the field bottle into his hands and then put my hands on his shoulders.
"I'll help you sit up, so we can clean your wounds and you get to drink something." I kept talking and eventually managed to get him into a more sitting position, his back leaned against me.

To be fair, I hadn't really planned out how this should work. He was leaning against my front side and the only things I could reach with my arms were about down to his hips, nothing more.

"Hrgh-!" He audibly gritted his teeth and yelped helplessly.
"I'm sorry." I apologized and took the bottle out of his hands, starting to pour water on some of the cloths I ripped off of my shirt. "It will probably burn at first." I warned before starting with his shoulders, stroking carefully over his wounds with the soaked cloth, causing him to flinch away a few times.
"This isn't even the worst part!" I groaned a little overdramatically.

"Very motivating." The black haired one gave back as I finished his upper body.
Yet again, I ignored his complaint and instead told him, "Give me your hurt hand." Which he did.

As I was slowly starting to take the bandages off, I shot a glance up to his face, just to notice that he was staring at some point behind me.
Alarmed, I turned around to see if anyone or anything was there.
"There's nothing, Hange. Just get this done with." He said in a monotonous voice before I let out a sigh and carried on with his hand.

The cut off finger parts looked rough. Dry blood all over it and flesh still shining through ripped parts of skin leaving a scent that wasn't very nice.

This would hurt like ass..

"This might hurt a bit." I repeated myself from before before starting to very carefully go over the parts having dirt still visible on the lighter parties of the wounds, Levi immediately wincing and causing me to stop for a moment.
"You can take my free hand and squeeze it if it hurts, if it helps." I offered. "But you'll need to hold your hand in position yourself that way." I added but he already took my hand that had held his wounded one up.

"Not a word." He said when our looks met for a brief moment before breaking it off at primarily the same time.

"Just try to put your hand on my knee, it will work that way." I instructed him, nodding as he followed my words.
Again going over the dirty and crusty parts, I felt him basically squeezing my hand at the kind of level I felt my blood circulation stop for a good while.
Gritting my teeth a tad, I kept going over the parts until I was done, looking at Levi so I could have my other hand back.

"Right." He said and let go.

Turning it into different directions, I felt the blood rush back in almost painfully, shaking it a little.
Ignoring that, I picked back up the bandages and wrapped them cleanly around his hand and fingers repeatedly. We sadly had no other option right now.

"Is that all?" He asked, seemingly growing impatient and also already back at looking pale.
"Almost. Just your face is missing." I responded, trying to figure out how to position myself for being able to reach him the best.
Once I managed that, I made a new part of cloth wet again, one of my hands on his uninjured cheek, the other starting to carefully speckle over his newly sewn scars across almost his whole face, trying not to hurt him as much.

And as the earth burns to the ground, oh boy it's you that I lie with as the atom bomb locks in.
