2 Months Later; Also The Day Before My First Day of College:
"Pavi, has all the items come from our old home?"
"Yes, Raj ji!
Why what are you searching for?"
"You!"
Oh, this man!
"What, I am right here!", I chuckled.
"No!
You've been, well let's see:
1. House hunting with me until we settled for this beautiful place.
2. Packing all our items.
3. Choosing home decors, paints and furniture with Ma and Rekha.
4. Punctually taking Dev for his appointments.
5. Applied to our dream colleges.
6. Setting up interviews for the tuition centre hiring-"
"Okay, okay! Stop with your list!", I said.
Oh, these were all true. We finally chose a beautiful 3-floored house with a spacious porch and an open terrace.
Rekha called dibs on the top-floor while Ma and Babaji wanted to stay in the ground floor. We were certainly left with no choice but to take the middle one, however so, no complaints from our end.
We did have more privacy when compared the previous house but somehow, that place had a lot of memories for all of us. We did bid an emotional goodbye to it and started afresh at the new place.
Ma ji asked us to name the house as 'Saraswathi', since it is for education that we've made this choice. I loved it immediately.
We were still settling down in our new house and Raj ji and me were setting our bedroom. He came closer and suddenly, just lifted and swirled me around!
"Ji!"
"Bhai!"
Oops, Rekha had come over and I feel so embarrassed. Raj ji immediately dropped me and folder his palms and stood.
"My eyes! ", she exclaimed!
"Hey, come on! It wasn't so bad!", My husband chuckled.
"Yes, for you!"
"Okay, okay! Stop it both of you", I intervened.
"I am so sorry Rekha, tell me dear-"
"That's okay Bhabhi, you had actually asked me for something right, well, Sushant and me got it for you."
"Oh, that's wonderful!", I chirped in happiness.
"What secret are you both discussing without even telling me?", Raj ji asked.
I looked at Rekha and she showed a double thumbs up to me. She asked us to come to our floor's living room where she had dropped what I had asked to get her.
"Surprise!", both of us shouted.
"Wha-what?", he asked cluelessly.
"Well, Bhabhi and me had chosen a suit for you and it got delivered today.
Also this is a college bag, a gift from Bhabhi to you."
"This-this is-", Raj ji was searching for words.
He just couldn't find any and so pulled the both of us into his bear hug.
My son felt left out and started wailing! All of us laughed while Rekha suggested that she'd go take care of her nephew.
"Did you like them?", I asked my husband.
"Baby, I love them, I just as much as I love you and our son!"
My man!
We have certainly come a long way you know! I was married off to a stranger, just because I was the first daughter in the family. When I thought my life was almost over, my husband won my heart through his charms and love, and supported me through my dream.
In the meantime, my mother in law became a mother and my father in law, was just more than a father to me. Rekha and me are sisters and best friends. I also have a lovely and cute little son named Dev and in just almost 1.5 years of my marriage, I found my world and my happy space.
Trust me, I just played the role of a typical Indian bride, and with time, everything made sense and fell into its place.
Tomorrow's my first day in a medical college, one of the bests in our state. I am really excited to venture out this new journey that life has embarked me with.
The new house gave us an opportunity to make new and better memories. Dev was growing up and honestly I will certainly miss being 24 hours around him. But I had to be his role model, I also had to teach him to be independent. So, this is the right thing to do.
Raj ji however had a few more days before his college started and so, he said he'd cope up with Dev for my lost time. With these thoughts in my head, I slowly took out the sthethoscope that my husband had gifted me during our honeymoon.
Having a quick flashback about the past while holding my gift made me sentimental. I heard a small click and I at once knew that my husband is also in the room and for safety reasons, locked it!
He came to me and kissed my eyes, cheeks and then cherished my lips.
"You are going to be great, okay?!", he ensured me.
"Thank you... So are you!"
"Oh, I have no worries about me, I've got a pretty sexy wife who knows how to keep me in line!"
I laughed at him.
"Bahu? Raj beta?"
Oh that was Ma ji!
"Ha Ma, we're coming!"
Both of us took the flight of stairs to the ground floor. Rekha was already there with Dev.
Our family, our sweet little family was together and it was happy and contended.
I picked up Dev from Rekha and kissed him. Raj ji boldly put and arm around me.
He frankly doesn't mind these days!
"May God keep our family happy, together and blessed with grace!", Ma ji prayed.
We all nodded in agreement.
On that note, we just embraced eachother's presence and cherished into our steps towards a 'Happily Ever After!'
A million more adventures to experience, and a lot of things to achieve, but one thing is for sure, that, of all the roles I play, I'd never change the one of a 'Typical Indian Bride'!
