Chapter 21

Okay guys, I haven't been working on this as much as I should. And I'm terribly sorry. I've lost interest in this pairing and moved on to a better one. Don't worry, it's still in the Sonic fandom! After this book, I'll write about my new otp from then on. This pairing I'm writing about, I still happened, and I will bring them in the new books occasionally, but it's not the main one. I hope what I just said isn't confusing. XDD

Shadow's POV:

We dragged Baylee's dead weight for what seemed like hours. I carried her legs while Emilee and Ashley pulled her by the arms. Carly went ahead to look through the other air vents to see what room Raven was in. It was extremely difficult to move quickly since we had to get on our hands and knees. I had to motivate everyone once and a while to keep going, since they would give up because they were exhausted. I got exhausted sometimes too, but the frustration and anger kept me going.

Suddenly, Ashley dropped Baylee's arm and whined quietly. "This is useless! We'll never find her!"

"If you don't keep moving I'm going to leave you guys behind! We're gonna find Raven and that's the end of it!" I shouted in a hushed tone and gave her a cold glare.

Mumbling, she quickly picked her back up and proceeded. I couldn't believe they would just give up so easily. She was their best friend for chaos sakes! I needed to find her as quickly as I could. Mephiles was out of his mind and could do anything to her. If anything happens to her, I wouldn't know what to do...

"Guys! I found her!" Carly whispered.

With much effort, she pushed the vent out and crawled through the opening. Ashley and Emilee went after, and I pushed baylee out before myself. I looked around and found her sleeping on the bed, facing us. I then noticed Mephiles was on the other side. He was sitting up and hunched over on the edge, with his head in his hands.

"You want her...don't you...." He whispered.

Before I could say anything, he started again.

"Y-you can't take her...she keeps me sane...you won't..y-you can't..."

Raven began to stir."s-Shadow?!" She sprung up from the bed and collided with me.

I hugged her tightly, but kept my eyes on Mephiles. I took out one of the two chaos emerald I had. Before I could say anything, Raven quickly pushed my arm down.

"We can't leave yet." She gave me a stern look.

"Why the hell not?!"

Raven started to yell. "He needs our help! We can't just leave him like this!"

"Oh, so now you're more concerned about the guy who kidnapped you than yourself! I'm sorry, but I'm not letting you stay with this...maniac!" I yelled back at her.

"Enough!," Mephiles spun around and stared at us, "So, now I'm the mad man, huh? Just the guy with a crazy desire!"

Quickly, his eyes and quills had went back to the color of burning red.

Raven stampered. "N-no! Mephiles, I care- I mean, we care-"

"Silence! That nonsense won't work this time. I've learned from my mistakes and now know not to fall for it again. You should have took the chance when you had it, darling..."

Suddenly, the dark ooze that once attacked us before, shot straight for Raven's ankle. It grabbed on and pulled her to the floor, dragging Raven under the bed towards Mephiles' side. Another one came out and wrapped around Carly, and pulled her over to Mephiles too. She wiggled against the force but had no avail.
